Mike Bushell was seen in an amusing slip of the tongue gaffe when he was talking about Aldershot’s FA Cup upset at Stockport.
The BBC sports presenter was talking viewers through what happened on Wednesday night, with the National League side dumping out the team from the tier above.
But footage has surfaced of the moment he made the blunder live on the BBC at 6:40am. He says: “Next to an FA Cup upset, a non league side Aldershit Town, Aldershot Town, can look forward to a trip to Championship club West Brom in the third round after they beat the League Two leaders Stockport County in their replay. The only goal was that scrambled effort from Oliver Scott.”
Of course with any mistake you make of TV, you just carry on as if nothing happened, like a true professional, but of course viewers spotted it and immediate put it on social media to laugh at…

It’s an easy mistake to make it seems, with Julian Warren also getting caught out a number of years back when he was reporting on Sky Sports.
A different Sky Sports News reporter also called them ‘Aldershit’ 11 years or so ago, as she reported on The Shots’ win against Bristol Rovers.
These eagle-eyed viewers ay, luckily these reporters can only laugh as their mistake while providing light entertainment for those watching on.
@SkySportsNewsHQ I guess Julian Warren doesn’t like Aldershit! 😆⚽️funny faux pas… the total pro skipping past it pic.twitter.com/Uu6BRnfP83

As mentioned, Aldershot’s fine run of form under Tommy Widdrington has now seen them reach the FA Cup Third Round where they will travel to West Brom.
The first half played out to a rather cagey affair, with the visitors coming closing when Lorent Tolaj set up Josh Stokes, but saw his effort aimed straight at at home keeper Ben Hinchliffe.
Having edged the first half, Aldershot continued the pressure on their opponents, and Scott managed to break the deadlock from close range, in what was a proper scramble in the penalty area, to send the Shots through.
Stockport boss Dave Challinor said on BBC Radio Manchester: “I don’t feel sorry for what happened because I’ve been managing for 14 years and I can count on one hand the times I’ve been embarrassed by my team’s performance and tonight is one of them.
“That was nowhere near good enough. It’s a huge worry and huge concern because we’ve got a big three weeks ahead of us with five games against, without being disrespectful, better sides than Aldershot, before we can bring in bodies.
“Based on what I’ve seen tonight, we need to bring in plenty of bodies.”
Aldershot boss Tommy Widdrington, who just won the National League manager of the month award, told BBC Radio Surrey: “My group never know when they’re beaten and they’ll always play to the final whistle whether that’s 90 minutes or 100 minutes.
“I’m never worried about us going the distance. I hate the term ‘non-league’ because we’re a professional football club.
“As a group you won’t see many faster or fitter or stronger than us and that’s something I pride myself in. I’ve got a good support staff that make sure that’s the case.”
