Aldershot Town announce Scott Davies as their new manager as well as a list of released players following the 2025/26 season.
The Shots avoided the drop, ending up 20th in the National League with 46 points from 46 games played. Thomas Widdrington was in charge until his departure in October, with John Coleman replacing him for the remainder of the season.
The club have moved quick in preparation for 2026/27, appointing Scott Davies, 38, who had been in a player-manager role at Slough Town, who finished 16th in the National League South.
Just before news of a new manager for the Shots, they confirmed the players released at the end of their contracts: Pat Nash, Coniah Boyce-Clarke, Dejan Tetek, Hady Ghandour, Kwame Thomas, Luke Jenkins, Olly Scott, Matt Penney, Theo Widdrington, Tyler Frost, Josh Brooking and Marcus Dewhurst.
All remaining players are either under contract for the 2026/27 season or in talks to continue at Aldershot Town for the 2026/27 season.
Aldershot Town are delighted to announce the appointment of Scott Davies as first-team manager ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Joining from Slough Town following the conclusion of the National League South campaign, welcome Scott!

A real privilege to return as manager to the place where I fell in love with the game as a baby faced 19 year old in an XL shirt.
Nobody said it’s gonna be easy but it’ll be fun to watch. Hard work has already started. Some exciting lads onboard.
Let’s go ❤️💙 @OfficialShots https://t.co/CChT5MggGO

Aldershot said in a statement: “Aldershot Town are delighted to announce the appointment of Scott Davies as first-team manager ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
“Joining from Slough Town following the conclusion of the National League South campaign, the 38-year-old requires little introduction in North East Hampshire, having enjoyed an extremely memorable set of spells at Aldershot Town as a player.
“Taking on a solely managerial role, the appointment also marks the end of a fabulous 20-year playing career, including 135 appearances in the EFL.
“Scott made over 90 appearances for the Shots across three non-consecutive loan spells, quickly becoming a fan favourite upon his initial arrival in 2007. As well as winning the Setanta Shield and reaching the FA Trophy semi-finals in his first campaign with the club, the midfielder was also at the heart of the 101-point, promotion winning side of 2007-08, most notably scoring that goal against Torquay United to clinch promotion back to the Football League for the first time since reformation.
“Enjoying two further loan spells in 2008 and 2011, Davies went on to score 14 times in 48 League Two appearances for the club, a tally bested only by Kirk Hudson, Marvin Morgan and Danny Hylton across our time in the Football League.
“Life after Aldershot saw Davies play for a series of clubs in the South East of England, before finally settling on the long-term home of Slough Town in 2019, eventually being appointed player-manager in 2022.
“Having just completed his third full season in charge of the Rebels, he has successfully maintained the club’s National League South status on each occasion, as well as guiding the side to the first round proper of the FA Cup in 2023, taking League Two Grimsby Town to a replay, all the while offering his on-field services on a regular basis.
“Everyone at Aldershot Town would like to extend a welcome return to Scott, and wish him an enjoyable settling in period across the next few weeks.”
In addition to yesterday's appointment, we are delighted to also announce Mark Jones as the club's assistant manager.

Slough Town CEO, Ashley Smith said via www.sloughtownfc.com:
“Sadly, this outcome was inevitable due to Scott taking to management so easily. On a personal level, he has been an absolute pleasure to work with. The fact that his personal and football values were aligned made him the perfect person for myself and A23 Football ownership from the beginning.
“Scott is hugely ambitious, and to date we have had several approaches for him. However, this was slightly different due to the nature of Scott’s emotional tie to Aldershot Town. I’m proud Scott has been our manager. We have backed him and always ensured he felt that.
“During Scott’s tenure, we have had some memorable moments which have created lifelong memories. Success on and off the pitch has been evident and has made the journey so rewarding.
“Scott has become a dear friend, so this makes it all the more difficult. Myself and the board would like to personally thank Scott for the tireless work and commitment he has shown to this wonderful club.
“We wish Scott every success in his exciting new chapter. We now embark on our own new chapter, one that brings excitement and optimism as we look to find the next person to lead the club forward.”
Thank you 👊🏼💙 @sloughtownfc https://t.co/JczBhVFhXo pic.twitter.com/zXKgTMiMU0

Here’s the social media reaction as Aldershot Town announce their new manager as well as released list following the 2025/26 season…
@LucyT74: Scott I am very sad to see you go. You have been a fabulous manager. Your passion for the game and good people shines through. Thank you for all you have done, I wish you and your lovely family every happiness. Remember you will always be a rebel 💛💙💛💙💛💙
@redwine_rebel: Absolutely gutted 😢 xx thank you for everything Scott we will so miss you but we have some wonderful memories to cherish 💙💛 xxx wishing you the best of luck you will be amazing ❤️ xxx
@AlfieWellsRebel: @scottdavies1988 thank you so much for everything you put into this amazing football club going to be so hard to replace you but I wish the absolute best in your future 🔵🟠
@BearintheUK: Look after him, Shots. All of us at Slough are heartbroken to lose @scottdavies1988 You’ve got an absolute diamond! 🥹👏🏻
@LucyT74: Look after him, @scottdavies1988 is the best! We will miss you at arbour park. Looks like I have another team to keep my 👀on. Good luck Scott
@redwine_rebel: Not going to like this post because I don’t but wish Scott the best of luck and know he’ll do a great job xxx
@Lukewalshpod: What an appointment 👏 This is the type of appointment that Aldershot needed to make. A young enthusiastic manager that has proven he can overachieve with a lower budget. Adding to this he already knows the club inside out. Instant dark horse for next season, Well deserved @scottdavies1988 👏
@DanTakesOnFooty: Scott Davies is a good manager and has done a good job at Slough but I’m not 100% sure he’s the right fit for what Aldershot need right now. He knows the club and will give the fans a much needed boost but for me they need someone who can put out fires and make the best of what he has and I think that calls for someone with a bit more experience personally. Huge summer ahead for the club! Good luck to him and Aldershot next season!
@ADS_INSTALL: I cannot believe that frosty, Olly Scott and Jenkins have been released… others I can sort of understand but I’m really surprised
@J_littlemore8: Shame about a few of them, but we have to move on. Tristan Abrahams should be on here, brave to get rid of all 3 goalies aswell
@ATFC_Brady: Why don’t I see Tristan Abrahams on this list??????
@LeviDarch: Some really big surprises here, gutted to say goodbye to Frosty, Olly Scott, Tetek and Theo in particular. Simply due to their length of service. Releasing 3 keepers is mental though 🫣
@CallumHallett6:
And so it begins… #TheShots are the first too release their retained list.
Some interesting names in here for NL + NLN/S sides… 🤔
// Pat Nash back to Farnham?
// Hady Ghandour a decent physical forward; potentially stays in the NL.
// Luke Jenkins one of the best defenders in the NLS for Chelmsford a few seasons ago.
// Tyler Frost would be a solid addition for NL sides as a depth option.
// Marcus Dewhurst would be a reasonably pickup for Step 2 sides as well.
A rebuild was needed so none of these names are a massive surprise IMO.
A top coach, and even better person.
He is 100% deserving of his chance to make the step-up into the NL.
He has done a brilliant job at Slough Town, and now he’s got his chance at a club HE loves and who love HIM. It is a match made in heaven.
Good luck @scottdavies1988 ❤️💙 https://t.co/oRp8ce8krG pic.twitter.com/kPwS1y4hMJ

Great appointment! I knew from the first time I met him watching a random game on a Tuesday night many years ago he would become a manager, and after playing for us knew he would become a very good one. Convinced this will be a huge success! Fact he is a great person is a bonus! https://t.co/qMUxVFwhYr

Welcome home, Scotty! ❤️💙
He’s got one hell of a job on his hands, but at least we know he cares about the club as much as we do.
Will need an immense amount of luck – reality is, a LOT needs to change.
That released list is a good start, though… Up #TheShots! https://t.co/6EYuRxJoOM
