Liam Rosenior speaks for the first time on being sacked by Hull City

Liam Rosenior speaks for the first time on being sacked by Hull City, after finishing the season 7th in the Championship.

The 39 year old departed the Tigers slightly more than a week ago and has swiftly been associated with available managerial positions, now being linked to potentially taking charge at Plymouth Argyle, who defeated Rosenior’s Hull City 1-0 on the final day of the season earlier this month, securing their position in the second tier and simultaneously dashing the Tigers’ hopes of finishing in the top six.

The Pilgrims are in need of a permanent manager having had Neil Dewsnip and Kevin Nancekivell as caretakers following the dismissal of Ian Foster in April.

Now Rosenior has reflected on being sacking and his time at the club…

LIAM ROSENIOR SAID

“It has been an honour, a joy and a pleasure to lead a football club that I love for the last 18 months.

“I would like to thank every member of staff, every player I worked with, every fan who supported us on the journey and also to Acun Ilicali and Tan Kesler for believing in me enough to give me the opportunity to manage Hull City.

“I take immense pride in the massive progress and growth of the club in this period, both on and off the pitch, and the small part I played in it. I genuinely hope that the hard work of everybody at the football club continues to move things in an upward trajectory.

“Working with Acun, Tan and his football brain team has been an incredible learning experience and with the passion, energy, determination and hard work they have put into this club, I am sure they will get the vision and success that they crave in the long term.

“Seeing the team and players develop, improve and grow in an 18 month period, in a style that we believed in, has been amazing and I have enjoyed every moment of working with an outstanding group of people who gave me trust, spirit and togetherness, not just in games, but in every single training session that we worked in. Great people who I have loved being around. Always together.

“Every member of staff gave their all to assist the players and me in this process and for that I am truly grateful. It was a joy to come to work every day. Special people who created a special environment. Thank you.

“And to the fans. Thank you. For your passion, for your support and the love you gave to me and the lads, home and away.

“Standing on the touchline representing you in the Amber and Black will stay with me forever.

“Up The Tigers!”

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali explains more on decision to sack Liam Rosenior

Acun Ilicali said to BBC Humberside in an interview that he felt that Rosenior will go on to be a successful coach despite terminating his stay at the MKM Stadium.

“It was a difference in opinions,” he said. “Liam is a very good coach and will be very successful. He is young and is a very good character who makes the team love him.

“There are so many positive things, but at the end of the day me and my team are dreaming of something for this club and there is a football style we want to see on the pitch.

“I can’t say what the biggest difference is. Liam’s football philosophy is very good and may be successful but we didn’t see it suiting our character for the future.”
