League One outright title winner, promotion, top six finish and relegation odds

The League One outright title winner, promotion, top six finish and relegation odds for the 2022/23 season is revealed by bookmakers.

Following Port Vale’s League Two playoff final victory against Mansfield Town at Wembley Stadium last month, the line-up for next season’s League One was completed.

It’s expected to be another highly competitive campaign, some clubs hoping for an immediate return to the second tier after relegation, while others are hoping to take inspiration from Sunderland and end their long stay in the division, and there there are others dubbed outsiders or underdogs who will be eyeing a promotion place. Unprecedented points hauls were required to reach the playoffs in 2021/22 due to the strength of the teams in the top half, and that looks set to continue.

Big-spending Ipswich Town are once again early favourites for the title, with Sheffield Wednesday and Derby also initially relatively short prices, though the early odds issued by Sky Bet indicate a wide-open field with several teams in with a shout, depending on how they recruit this summer.

Morecambe, Cambridge United and Cheltenham Town did well to avoid relegation in their first season after being promoted, however all three have been tipped to struggle. Fleetwood Town, who survived the drop by the skin of their teeth earlier this month, are also predicted to have another tough season with new manager Scott Brown in charge.

Teams will find out their fixtures for the new League One season when the EFL schedule is released on Thursday the 23rd of June.

The new season begins on the weekend of July 30th and will end on May 6th. Right then, time to have a look at those odds as of the 4th of June 2022.

@derbyram76: Derby going straight back up….🐏🐏

@ossieend: I’m not so confident. There are some big clubs in this league and some of the smaller ones are strong teams who’ll really be up for playing us. #dcfc

@MightyMackem88: Hope Wednesday get out

@glyncharles65: Love to see Exeter city in the mix.

@dtreacy11: Surely pompey have spent too long there now. Not their greatest admirer but they should be at least championship. Derby may have to do their time but can see sheff wed return.

@GarethPotter14: Bolton will win the league easy

@J_Bird67: Going to be a really tough one to call. Bolton should be up there come the end of the season, but the same could be said for another 4-5 teams.

@SpinelessSaints: Derby, Wednesday and Posh all going up and thats a Fact

@teddystamp: imagine derby, ipswich and wednesday going up to championship😮‍💨

@Jake_PFC: Feel like fans of other clubs don’t expect us to do well this season but looking at it there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be in the playoffs at an absolute minimum, top 2 seems a real possibility if we recruit well considering we already have a good base of a squad, up the blues

@JLH5464L What a shit but class league that is

@TomNixon03: Thank god we for out when we did. Every year it just seems to get stronger

@bscott_996: 😍 some away days there, can’t wait for Morecambe and Peterborough away on a Tuesday night in Feb

@rosstitute73: Going to be so hard to get out that league. I’ve counted 11 teams that could be up there

@SAFCBANTER1973: Not easy to get out of that. Some big clubs in there now.

@GrantR1310: Such a strange looking League 1, cannot wait 🙌🏼
