Kettering Town part company with their manager after missing out on top seven finish

Kettering Town part company with their manager Ian Culverhouse after missing out on the National League North playoffs this season.

Culverhouse, a former player for the likes of Tottenham, Norwich, Swindon and Brighton, came in at Kettering to replace Paul Cox who left the club to join Boston United in January.

He nearly guided them to a top seven finish but fell two points short on the final day of the season following a 1-1 draw at Curzon Ashton.

Ian Culverhouse and his staff have parted company with the club. Ian was engaged until the end of the season which ended with the Poppies finishing in an impressive 8th position. In his 22 games in charge of the club the team won 8, drew 9 and lost 5 games, with just 1 defeat in their final 12 games, this included games against most of the top sides, Chorley, York City, Kidderminster Harriers, AFC Fylde and Champions Gateshead.

Owner Ritchie Jeune said, “It’s a situation where in the end there are fundamental differences between us. The relationship between the manager and the club is paramount, if we are to succeed, and we feel that it’s best for everyone, if we look in a different direction. I want to thank Ian for everything he has done for us in his short time here and wish him well in his next appointment which with his qualities will not be far away”.

Everyone at the Club would like to thank Ian, Paul, and Joe for their professionalism since coming in at short notice and wish them all the best for their futures.

The search will now begin for a new manager (as soon as possible) in readiness for the 2022-23 season.

@charlieUTP: Poor mans paul cox

@terryc90: Not too upset tbh. Didn’t like his style.

@c_ellis92: Fully expected this. Reaction after Curzon loss. Weird post match comments. Pitch blaming. Not a big loss imo. Probs can’t do things on a shoestring and sadly that’s where we’re at. Don’t think he changed us too much from Paul Cox either. Players are the credit here. #ktfc

@Graceful_Gashy: Lmao tried to sabotage lynn and sabotaged himself. Bellend

@richthorndike: Really not sure about this decision. Top manager.
