FA Trophy second-round draw: all 40 ties, away journeys and matches to watch

The FA Trophy second-round draw has handed Bridlington Town a home tie against Macclesfield, sent Oxford City to Newmarket Town and paired Didcot Town with Slough Town. For the lower-ranked hosts, the reward is a chance to make their ground the setting for the next upset.

All 40 ties are below, alongside the away journeys, clubs’ current divisions and the gaps that can fairly be compared. The default match date is Saturday 14 November 2026, at 3pm, with National League North and South clubs joining the competition at this stage.

FA Trophy draw: the ties to watch

Bridlington Town v Macclesfield: another chance to upset the odds

Bridlington came through a shootout against Curzon Ashton after a 2–2 draw in the first round. That is useful evidence of their ability to stay in a difficult cup tie, although Macclesfield bring a fresh test: they sit third in National League North, two division levels above their hosts. A home draw gives Bridlington something to build around; it does not remove the difference in the teams’ weekly opposition.

Newmarket Town v Oxford City and Didcot Town v Slough Town

Newmarket’s 1–0 win at Faversham earned them a visit from Oxford City, who are second in National League North. There are two levels between the sides. Oxford’s league standing makes them a demanding opponent, but Newmarket have already shown they can manage a tight away cup game and now have home advantage.

Didcot beat Poole Town 2–1 and now welcome Slough, bottom of National League South. This is another Step 4 side hosting Step 2 opposition. That gap matters when assessing resources and the usual standard of opposition, yet Slough’s league position also gives Didcot encouragement. A cup afternoon is decided by the teams on the pitch, rather than the labels beside their names.

Hereford v Brackley Town: 19 league places apart

This is a gap we can measure directly. Hereford lead National League North, while Brackley are 20th: 19 places separate clubs in the same table. The draw puts the league leaders at home, but it also gives Brackley a single-match opportunity to change the mood without having to erase that league deficit.

Farnham Town v Ebbsfleet United and Dagenham & Redbridge v Dorking Wanderers

Two all-National League South ties offer a different sort of intrigue. Second-placed Ebbsfleet travel to ninth-placed Farnham, a seven-place gap. Dagenham, fourth, host eighth-placed Dorking, with four places between them. There is no lower-division underdog in either fixture; these are tests between clubs familiar with the same level of competition.

Bourne Town v Bromsgrove Sporting: build on a clean sheet

Bourne’s 1–0 victory over Banbury United was one of the first round’s eye-catching results. Bromsgrove, third in Southern Premier Central, now visit a side one step below them. For Bourne, another disciplined performance would give them a route into the later stages; for the visitors, the previous result is a clear warning against treating the draw as straightforward.

The away journeys: Torquay and Truro face long trips

Torquay supporters face the longest modelled journey among the confirmed pairings: about 188 miles one way to Horsham. Truro’s trip to Bath is approximately 176 miles, while Chelmsford supporters have around 172 miles to cover to AFC Telford United. Harborough’s journey to Merthyr is about 153 miles.

What do the non-league steps mean?

A step counts from the top of the National League System, below the Premier League and the three EFL divisions. That makes the National League Step 1, but level five of the whole pyramid. National League North and South are Step 2, or level six.

The Premier divisions of the Northern Premier, Southern and Isthmian leagues share Step 3. Their regional divisions below share Step 4. North and South run alongside each other, as do regional divisions at the same step. A team in one is not automatically ranked above a team in another simply because its league position is higher.

That is why we give a precise places gap for clubs in the same table, and a division-level gap when clubs play at different steps. Two positions from separate regional tables cannot be turned into one reliable overall ranking.

What happened in the previous round?

Alongside Bourne, Newmarket and Didcot’s wins, Avro edged Hyde United 2–1, Leek Town beat Bootle 4–1 and Chertsey Town won 4–0 at Takeley. Weymouth’s 3–2 victory over Sholing sets up a home tie against Hampton & Richmond Borough, two levels above them.

Bath City progressed on penalties after a goalless draw with Frome Town. They now host Truro, giving a Step 3 side the chance to knock out Step 2 opposition. Bridlington also advanced through a shootout, underlining how little separates survival and elimination in this competition.

FA Trophy prize money and match rules

Second-round winners receive £3,750 from the FA prize fund, while losing clubs receive £1,000. First-round winners earned £3,000, so a club winning in both proper rounds would collect £6,750 from those two rounds alone, before any qualifying-round payments or matchday income.

There are no replays. A match level after 90 minutes goes straight to penalties. The default 3pm start on 14 November is subject to confirmed arrangements; ground-sharing requirements can move ties to the Friday or Sunday. Postponed ties must be played by Thursday 19 November.

When is the next FA Trophy draw?

The third round is scheduled for Saturday 12 December 2026, when National League clubs enter. The FA has not yet confirmed the third-round draw date in its second-round announcement. We will add the timing once it is announced.
