How The Recently Promoted Teams Are Looking Up As The Season Is About To Begin

With a spot in the 2023/2024 season confirmed, the promoted teams’ immediate focus shifts to guaranteeing survival in their debut Premier League campaign. The league is considered the most competitive in the world and for a good reason. The games are fast-paced, and players must adapt or flop.

In most cases, it calls for insane fitness levels, but the three promoted teams know all about that because the SkyBet Championship has 24 teams. All in all, Burnley, Sheffield, and Luton each played 46 league games. In addition, they also had to compete in the Carabao and FA Cup competitions alongside the Premier League, Division 1, and Division 2 teams.

The combination of pre-season games and the open transfer market has excited football fans alike. Despite the limited football activity since the 2022/23 season concluded, fans who used to place bets in the previous season can now place bets on the current transfer saga and pre-season games.

Even before the Premier League season kicks off, football fanatics can also play online casino games to complement their sports betting activities. As a side note, you can try different football-themed slots, as you keep track of players who might be changing their allegiance from one team to another. Since transfer news usually grabs the headlines, let’s see how the promoted teams are faring so far in that docket.

Transfers So Far

Burnley and Sheffield United have experience in top-tier English football. Sheffield United was relegated in the 2020/21 season, while Burnley dropped down in the 2021/22 season. Luton Town has never played in the Premier League since its inception in 1992, so they must adapt quickly, or they might drop down in the coming months.

Former Manchester City captain ,Vincent Kompany, retired from professional football months before becoming Burnley’s coach. He led them to the top of the SkyBet Championship standings with a team of youth rather than experience. After the team suffered relegation, there was an overhaul, and he managed to oversee the integration of 16 new signing.

Two of their top talents who left the team were England internationals James Tarkowski and Nick Pope. The latter was part of England’s squad in the Qatar World Cup 2022. Kompany has made a few signings that have undoubtedly strengthened the team, with the likes of striker Micheal Obafemi and defenders Jordan Beyer and Dara O’Shea.

Some of the older, experienced players, such as Lowton and Barnes, both 34 years old, have been released to give way to a new generation. Burnley proved last season that they have a blistering pace and plenty of attacking momentum that will get them goals. They also have a solid backline, which is crucial in a relegation fight because they need to concede as few goals as possible.

Sheffield United has mixed displays at times but still managed to dominate most of the season to secure 28 wins and 7 draws. They have added to their roster by signing midfielder Anis Slimane, left-back Yasser Larouci, forward Benie Traore, and defender Auston Trusty has recently signed from Arsenal.

There were a couple of high-profile departures, such as Broadbent to Doncaster Rovers, Jake Eastwood to Grimsby Town, and Iliman Ndiaye, who sealed a £20 million transfer to Olympique Marseille.

Luton Town has done some excellent business in the transfer window, signing full-backs Ryan Giles from Wolves and Issa Kabore on loan from Manchester City. They have also signed talented and experienced holding midfielder Nakamba from Aston Villa. On the attacking front, they have added former Manchester United player and academy graduate Tahith Chong from Birmingham, who also brings loads of experience despite being just 23 years.

Another experienced addition is Mads Andersen, who has signed from Barnsley to boost the defense. They have added another winger, C. Ogbene, to add pace and goal opportunities. Also, rumor mills have linked Inter Miami striker Josef Martinez with the team, but it looks unlikely, considering he is having the season of his life playing alongside Messi.

How will the three teams fare in the Premier League? Burnley has what it takes to survive a season in the top flight thus far. Sheffield United and Luton Town need to spend more on experienced players to win crucial fixtures to secure enough points to survive the Premier League next season.
