FourFourTwo predicts the 2022/23 Championship table

Check out more of FourFourTwo’s predicted Championship table for 2022/23 below…

16) SUNDERLAND

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Black Cats to finish in 16th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: The Black Cats will look to settle in mid-table on their Championship return, but talisman Ross Stewart has lofty individual ambitions, with interest from elsewhere. Don’t bet against ‘The Loch Ness Drogba’ making a splash under Neil, who is popular for his brisk approach.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 1st place and champions for the 2021/22 League One campaign – instead they finished 5th and won the playoffs.

15) BLACKBURN

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted Rovers to finish in 15th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: New manager Tomasson could work wonders with talents such as Buckley and Dilan Markanday. Star men Joe Rothwell, Darragh Lenihan and potentially others, need to be replaced, however, so another crack at the playoffs is a hope rather than an expectation.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 15th place for the 2021/22 Championship campaign – instead they finished 8th.

14) MILLWALL

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Lions to finish in 14th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Millwall have conceded just 129 goals in Gary Rowett’s 125 league games in charge; their defensive reliability is almost a given. Chief creator Wallace has left: resultant disruption can be minimised if Fortuna Sittard attacker Flemming proves the man he’s billed to.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 9th place for the 2021/22 Championship campaign – and that was indeed the correct position.

13) STOKE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Potters to finish in 13th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Stoke have occupied a playoff spot in December in their past two seasons, yet finished 14th on both occasions. They need Josh Tymon, Lewis Baker and Jacob Brown firing throughout if they’re to improve their staying power; otherwise that top flight return looks long gone.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 10th place for the 2021/22 Championship campaign – instead they finished 14th.

12) QPR

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the R’s to finish in 12th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: With a progressive new manager in Beale and a strong core, QPR should rank in the top half again after last season’s playoff charge was scuppered by a closing return of just four victories in 18 matches. Attacking Dutch left-back Kenneth Paal might make a difference.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 13th place for the 2021/22 Championship campaign – instead they finished 11th.

11) HUDDERSFIELD

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Terriers to finish in 11th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Town’s defensive improvement was paramount to their rise from 20th in 2020-21 to third last term; Tom Lees and Matty Pearson defied the doubters while Lewis O’Brien’s energy was infectious. Another challenge is a big ask, though, with the futures of key players in doubt.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 22nd place and relegated for the 2021/22 Championship campaign – instead they finished 3rd and lost in the playoffs.

10) PRESTON

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Lilywhites to finish in 10th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Had the 2021-22 season started when Lowe grabbed the reins in December, PNE would have ended up sic points shy of the playoffs, not 11. A top six tilt is likely for the club, more adventurous under the Scouser, if recruitment at Deepdale is as sharp as expected.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 19th place for the 2021/22 Championship campaign – instead they finished 13th.

9) LUTON

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Hatters to finish in 9th place for the 2022/23 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Thanks to the club’s intelligent recruitment and Jones’ excellent coaching, Luton recorded their highest finish in 30 years. With a new stadium on the horizon, there are plenty of reasons to be positive – even if this season isn’t quite as enthralling as the last.

The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 14th place for the 2021/22 Championship campaign – instead they finished 6th.
