After Mark Yates was sacked by Macclesfield Town earlier this week, we’ve taken a look at who are favourites for the job at Moss Rose.
Yates was appointed four months ago after highly respected John Askey left to join Shrewsbury Town following the Silkmen’s promotion by winning the National League title.
Macclesfield are five points adrift of safety in League Two having not won in their opening 12 games.

Martyn Irvine used to be the Under 21s manager at Macclesfield Town but now, according to his Linkedin, is currently a Youth Development Phase Coach for Port Vale and Port Vale Foundation.

4th) KEVIN NOLAN

In August, Notts County parted company with manager Kevin Nolan after a six-game winless run. Nolan took charge of the Magpies in January 2017 and led them to the League Two playoffs last season.

3rd) DANNY WHITAKER or NEIL HOWARTH

Danny Whitaker and Neil Howarth are taking charge until a successor is appointed.
Whitaker has played over 400 games for the Silkmen between 2001-2006 and again from 2013.
Howarth also has played for Macclesfield back in the the 90s.
