Fans react as details emerge on Crystal Palace appointing Pierre Sage as their new head coach, replacing Oliver Glasner.
According to David Ornstein, it is a 3 year contract for Pierre Sage with the work permit sorted and he is set to start on 6th July.
His assistant, Jamal Alioui, is also to also join the Frenchman at Palace, with more staff to follow. Patrick McCarthy and Andy Quy are to remain as part of the setup.
Pierre Sage guided Lens to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France title for the 2025/26 season.

According to lequipe, after days of talks, Sage and Crystal Palace reached a final agreement on Sunday, and is expected to sign his contract on Monday morning.
He is to reunite with Damien Della Santa, who he worked with at Lyon on individual player development and set-piece strategies.
Bressan Sandy Guichard, who has been at AS Monaco for the last seven seasons, will come in as fitness coach.
@mattspiro tweeted: “Pierre Sage did a wonderful job at Lens, building a superb side, pushing PSG, winning French Cup, reaching CL… all in one season. But the fact he’s left already, to manage Crystal Palace – a smaller club, in Europa League – is a worrying reflection of life outside PL bubble.
“Sage’s choice is understandable (on a financial level at least): Palace have quadrupled his salary. He now also gets to pit his wits against many of the best managers in football (although managing Lens in CL would’ve been equally challenging and more exciting still IMO).
“Plus, after being crowned Ligue 1 coach of the season, he knows that now is the time to cash in.
“But where does this leave Lens (who gave Sage a fantastic opportunity & the tools to succeed after he had been sacked by Lyon)? How can they now hope to keep talents like Sangaré, Risser and Baidoo when the coach jumps ship at first opportunity?
“And most concerning, where does this leave Ligue 1? How can this league hope to generate sustained competition for PSG when a team is dismantled after the most fleeting of successes? #CPFC #RCL”
Fans react as details emerge on Crystal Palace appointing Pierre Sage as their new head coach…
@CPISAinfo: Just seen on @theathletic that Pierre Sage has agreed a 3year deal to manage Palace and that his work permit is agreed. He starts 6th July. Great news, we really hope he continues to take us forward and look forward to seeing where we can go with him at the helm. #cpfc
@Alitheeagle1: I’d rather face Milan with Amorim than one with Glasner. Good news for our Europa League campaign. #CPFC
@gazbod: Great news. It’s quite the job to take over… Positive news regarding Paddy too #CPFC
@ljbrameld: I imagine Paddy has a big role to play here re PL culture. Might be a rocky season, but bring it on! ❤️💙
@WhiteNoise1879: Getting in early with a warm welcome before his disastrous pre-season and winless first 7 games of the season. Bon chance.
@CPFCHQ: Fantastic news. Big shoes to fill, but shouldn’t be judged compared to Glasner. Nothing will compare. #CPFC
@JRodrigues09v2: Hopefully we can start getting some players in now he’s been confirmed although he won’t start with us for 3 weeks. Paddy staying is huge, his influence is massive
@LiamBCPFC: Love that Paddy is staying
@Palace_Memery: Separate note but I think he’d rank highly in the Premier League Royal Rumble rankings. Looks like a hard nut
@LiamPanther_92: Feel exactly the same, think it’s so important paddy stays
@thatrexguy: Excellent appointment. Really excited to see Sage at Palace
@rich070968: Fab glad mcCarthy is staying
@GoonerXav: He’s a very good manager. Great steal by Palace that.
@shave_stuart: Here we go! Hopefully the terrific replacement for Glasner that we all think he is. #cpfc
@mattjohnson18_: The French Revolution is coming, see you next season @ChampionsLeague
@DJlegacykfnb: Pierre Sage’s first Palace crisis: Steve Parish is unlikely to sanction both Édouard and Guessand. Sage wants his Édouard reunion, but Parish will likely choose just one. The double deal looks dead. #CPFC.
@ronaldobrownn_: Premier League money extends to the managerial market, how Crystal Palace can just nab the manager of second-place Lens in Ligue 1… just like that.
