Fans chose to mock Brentford’s head coach Thomas Frank for what he made the officials do to their kit at half time, after in-game protests.
There was a delay to the second half beginning as they officials got changed in the dressing room before returning to the pitch again.
Second-placed Brentford went into the game looking to bounce back from two consecutive league defeats, whereas Coventry City were without a win in five matches, just three points above relegation zone.

Tyler Walker broke the deadlock on the 19th minute, side-footing an effort on his right, though just managed to squeeze under the body of David Raya and into the net.
The game got quieter in the lead up to half time, though an agitated Brentford boss Thomas Frank got very vocal and waved his arms in the air more vigorously as he gave instructions to his players.
In injury time of the first half, Frank could be seen getting annoyed by a potential clash of colours between Coventry’s one-off home shirt and the black shirt of the referee.
It would seem that Frank got his wish, as in the second half, the officials came out of the tunnel, changing from black to purple shirts.
Thomas Frank is apparently complaining that Brentford are mistaking the referee for a Coventry player because the kits are too similar…#PUSB #BrentfordFC pic.twitter.com/nWkPEmTNvg

It’s not done the Bees many favours though as they then went two down on the 55th minute.
It was on the 55th minute that Tyler Walker got his second of the afternoon.

Brentford ended up getting punished for trying to be too clever playing out from the back.
Coventry were superb in squeezing the space and intercepting the ball just outside the box.
Callum O’Hare layed it off for Walker to receive in the area and then a neat turn and right-foot shot found the bottom left corner giving David Raya no chance.
Brentford tried to show signs of encouragement mid-way through, however the second half ended with them looking flat and uninspiring, unable to find a way back.
The full time whistle blew, taking the Sky Blues up to 18th in the Championship table, six points ahead of the drop zone. Brentford remain second, four points behind leaders Norwich.
As mentioned, fans chose to mock Brentford’s head coach Thomas Frank for what he made the officials do to their kit at half time, after in-game protests…
@TomBreezy_: Not even surprised by this, absolute bellend of a bloke loves a complaint
@Leebee1235: That’s his excuses used up for the day. Maybe show Coventry some respect and put out a strong side.
@jamiewillby: Brentford excuses continue. In the mud.
@kieren_rees: Scraping the bottom of the barrel of excuses if he sees that as the problem.
@Gavstar79: Laughter track 🍼🤣🤣
@AntMcD7: Tom does like a moan
@david203cymru: Thomas Frank is a prize dick.
@Paddy55095446: Hes a prick that frank
@gregog1: New tactic from TF blame the colour of the officials kit for our poor display 😂😂😂 class @BrentfordFC 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🐝 #bees
@bigmacca199: Brentford really are desperate making the officials change because of a kit clash
@JoshMaahoney: Poor excuse but the officials should have noticed the kit clash
@mattthechef19: Surely the officials kits is an issue for Coventry not Brentford?! Lol #PUSB
@ftfntm: Thomas Frank really is the Scandi Klopp, isn’t he?
@JackWFC1: Any excuse huh
@Map0671: He really is a moaner
@AndrewNewts: Classic Brentford, always have an excuse at the ready.
@snedlife: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 tinpot
Others were more sympathetic with Frank’s reasoning…
@JRLAFC1886: If Coventry are wearing navy then I guess it looks too close to black. These refs are stuck in the past and often won’t change from black. Just watch the EPL and see GK’s all in black and the ref too! Law 5 states Refs must be different from the outfield players and GK. ignored!
@moto26261: The commentators were having problems with the kit clash as well..so it seems like a legitimate request. Nothing to do with the score is it??
@philthejack: I’m surprised the officials didn’t change their kit before kick off, they would have known the colours both teams would be wearing.
@Lions_and_Bees: Officials should be wearing pink or yellow if Coventry are wearing such a dark kit
@MattDeschoolmee; Surely ref should change his top at half time Coventry v Brentford?
@historybuff27: He has a point, personally.
PUNDIT REACTION:
Don Goodman at St Andrews on Tyler Walker: “He’s been excellent. Early on he set the tempo, making runs behind the Brentford backline. He got the penalty and then his fantastic second goal gave Coventry the points. Chuck in the work he did in the press and out of possession, and it’s been an all-round good afternoon for Tyler Walker.”
