Oliver Glasner has warned that Nottingham Forest’s problems will outlast another change of manager unless the club and players change with him, after an angry response to the 2-0 defeat at Brentford.
The Forest boss accepted responsibility for another disappointing result, but made clear he intends to stop compromising over the standards he expects. Defeat on Saturday 31 October left Forest second bottom of the Premier League and intensified scrutiny of the manager appointed in July.
His message went beyond a threat about his own future: replacing the man in the dugout would not automatically fix what he believes is going wrong around the team.

Why Glasner is demanding a change
Forest had won only once since Glasner’s arrival when they left the Gtech Community Stadium. He acknowledged that results were falling short, rather than asking supporters to accept another defeat as part of the process.
If you lose four of the last five games, it’s not good enough.
Glasner said he had identified problems from the beginning but felt he had made too many concessions. He now wants a clearer approach, with players committing to what he asks of them. The alternative, in his assessment, is another manager inheriting the same difficulties.
The Daily Mail’s account of the press conference described Glasner banging the table as he discussed refusing a player permission to make his own way back to Nottingham from London. He did not name the player. The incident illustrated his determination to apply team rules consistently after an afternoon that had tested his patience.
He also rejected the idea that people should feel sorry for him personally, drawing a distinction between a manager who can move on and the players and staff who remain at the club.

Fans debate the players’ responsibility and Glasner’s tactics
The replies to Sky’s clip show disagreement over where responsibility lies. Rich (@saxo1865) defended the manager’s preparation, writing: “Set us up to get points from every game we’ve played, players letting him and us down”.
@Forest4eva99 took the opposing view, questioning Glasner’s persistence with his formation and arguing another coach could get more from the squad.
Matthew (@NFFCmatthew) was concerned about what the outburst meant for his future: “Once a manager says things like this then there time as manager is getting to the end.”
Those comments capture different responses to the same interview: support for a manager challenging the players, frustration with his decisions, and concern that another change is approaching.
Manchester City next
Forest’s final fixture before the international break is at home to Manchester City. Glasner’s warning puts the focus on how his players respond to the standards he has set, as well as whether the team can turn that response into points.
He has acknowledged the risk to his position. That is different from an announcement that Forest have decided to replace him.
