Fan invades pitch and produces incredible slide tackle in Altrincham vs Solihull

Footage has emerged of a fan who invades the Moss Lane pitch and produces an incredible slide tackle in Altrincham vs Solihull on Tuesday.

Solihull Moors won the National League clash 2-1, with Joe Sbarra scoring the winner in the 72nd minute – but the game’s real highlight came as it entered stoppage time.

The Birmingham based outfit had the ball down the left-hand side with well-travelled striker Adam Rooney and he looked as though he might be about to take the ball over to the corner flag.

Fan Runs Onto The Pitch In Altrincham Vs Solihull Game And Produces Incredible Slide Tackle

Yet before he had the chance to try and run down the clock, a fan had appeared on the pitch out of nowhere.

The supporter had sprinted onto the turf from the stands, evading stewards and managing to take the ball off Rooney courtesy of a crunching sliding challenge.

Clearly proud of his efforts, the fan proceeded to run around celebrating while the referee blew the whistle to temporarily stop the game.

The game, which was shown live on BT Sport, did get back underway and saw Solihull see things out to move up to fifth in the National League table.

Former Stoke, Birmingham and Salford City striker Rooney gave huge praise to the tackle via his Twitter account, saying the supporter should have been awarded Man of the Match for his late cameo.

He wrote: “Lad should have got MOM for that tackle! Can’t go in with 2 feet these days though!”

Meanwhile, it reminds up of when a fan ran onto the pitch and did cartwheels during an National League match between Weymouth and Halifax 11 months ago.

The moment, which has fans on social media laughing, came around the 70th minute mark of what ended up being a 5-1 win for the Shaymen.

It was a much needed win for Pete Wild’s Halifax at the time, who went up to 15th in the National League table, whereas Weymouth were in 21st position.

It’s the second time that Halifax had scored goals against their opponents in consecutive matches, previously beating Barnet 5-2.

The Twitter admin behind the Terras’ social media page wasn’t happy at we he was seeing unfold in front of him however as you can see in the tweet below…
