Famara Diedhiou duped and abused; police try to catch Bristol City and Cardiff fans fighting

Footage shows Famara Diedhiou duped and abused and another clip saw police try to catch Bristol City and Cardiff fans fighting on Saturday.

A Bristol City fan duped and confronted former striker Famara Diedhiou prior to the Severnside derby, with Diedhiou responding to the fans’ claims, repeating that the fan should have some ‘respect’.

The Senegalese striker departed Bristol City back in 2021, joining Turkish side Alanyaspor before leaving for Spanish club Granada in Spain.

Famara, who is currently on loan at Cardiff, had the last laugh with the Bluebirds running out 1-0 winners thanks to a Perry Ng winner in the second-half.

The apparent Bristol City supporters suddenly turns to the player and repeatedly says: “F*** off you snake. You’re a f****** snake.”

Then another video was posted, showing Bristol City and Cardiff fans clashing on a hill, with police then charging in trying to disperse the trouble.

Cardiff boss Erol Bulut said post-match: “I enjoy all of our winning games. Today was for our players, our staff and our fans.

“We enjoyed it with our support. It was a hard earned three points.

“This season we are doing well in derbies. We know what they mean to everyone.

“For the confidence within the squad too, it’s a really big step. I think we started good and finished good.

“It was a goal from a set piece again. I know we are one of the best teams from set pieces. It was a game where it felt that whoever scored the first goal was going to win and we scored and kept it zero against us.

“I’ve been delighted with Perry. He’s a very good player, even with finishes and assists. I’m happy for him and the team.

“We had a bad few weeks but we stayed together. With our fans behind us, we can push for great things.

“We are in a good way. We have to keep our legs on the ground and continue to work hard.

“For Callum [O’Dwoda] it hasn’t been an easy season. We didn’t want to bring him on too early.

“He will get better and better. It was great for him to celebrate with our fans.”

Perry Ng said after the Championship fixture: “Personally it was fantastic. But most importantly it was the team performance; I thought that we were brilliant and comfortable, so I’m made up.

“I don’t know where scoring headers has come from for me, but keep them coming! We’ve had a lot of ups and downs this year, but we keep working hard and we’ll be rewarded, which is what we’ve done this week.

“We’ve had a few tough weeks. It’s been better the last two games, but before that we were poor, so it was nice to come here and give the fans something to shout about.

“We were comfortable today, and I think we were the better team for most of the game. I don’t think they had many chances, so I’m very pleased for all of the lads.

“Keeping a clean sheet was the most important thing. For the first 15 minutes they had a few chances, but after that I thought we were in control and looked like scoring.

“It’s so important in this league to get back-to-back wins, and what a difference it makes in the dressing room. We need to continue that onto Wednesday with Huddersfield at home we’ll be looking to win again.”

Bristol City boss Liam Manning said, per Bristol Post: “I’ve got thick skin. Of course I don’t want to hear [boos]. I want the team to perform and succeed, I’ve had to fight and scrap in my career to get where I am. I’ll take it on the chin, be calm and get ready to go again on Tuesday.

“If you sit around and feel sorry for yourself then you’re in big trouble. Like I said to the players, rightly so, they should be annoyed, they should be disappointed, they should be frustrated – every single emotional feeling that everyone in the stadium is feeling, and then get ready to go again because we can’t hide, we need people who are going to step up and take responsibility in high-pressure moments and deliver.

“We need people to step up and take responsibility in high-pressure moments and deliver.

“On the goal, set-pieces are probably Cardiff’s biggest threat – and most of their goals come from first contacts as well – and it’s hugely annoying.

“I didn’t think there was a huge amount of quality from both sides, so you’ve got to make sure you don’t lose and it finishes 0-0.”

On what was missing from the performance: “Quality in the final third, ultimately that. It’s been a consistent message throughout the season. If you look at how many goals we’ve scored across the season.

“The quality in the final bit; whether it be the bravery to play forward, and run forward, the bravery to combine, to cross, to get in the box. Whatever it is. The quality with the final bit was poor from us and nowhere near good enough. It’s something that’s been consistent, and something we can keep working at and keep doing but we have to have people to step up in high pressure moments and deliver.

“It’s just consistency, when we’ve done it before and scored in games. When you’re looking at potential, it’s how do you turn potential into performance; potential, for me, is always inconsistent – sometimes you score, sometimes you don’t, sometimes you cross it well, sometimes you don’t.

“The challenge is how do you turn that potential into consistent performances and that’s what we’re not doing. If you look at the sides at the top of the table, they’ve got people who consistently take responsibility and deliver.

“It’s been fits and spurts all season, you think you’re making progress, you win a couple of games, win two or three and then follow up with three losses, which I hate.

“There’s definitely some quality in there, because we’ve shown it in games, we’ve stepped up and delivered. The level you’ll hit is then how consistently you do that. Some of the lads, it’s their first or second season, it’s not like they’ve done four or five seasons of it.”
