Ebbsfleet confirm permanent appointment of their new manager in bid to avoid relegation

Ebbsfleet United confirm the permanent appointment of their new manager Danny Searle in a bid to avoid relegation from the National League.

Danny Searle came in to replace Dennis Kutrieb and has since gained draws against Oldham Athletic and Chesterfield in his 2 games as interim head coach.

The club currently sit 23rd in the National League with 32 points taken from 33 games played, 2 points from safety, but teams above them have games in hand.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Ebbsfleet United are pleased to confirm that Danny Searle has been appointed as the club’s new permanent manager following his period as interim head coach.

With previous experience in the National League, the League of Ireland, at Premier League academy level and abroad, the UEFA Pro-licensed coach is fully up to speed with the Fleet squad and has already made great strides at the Kuflink Stadium as the team head into the final third of the league season. Working alongside Danny will be Anwar Uddin as assistant manager (pictured below), who has also featured in the Fleet dugout on an interim basis this past fortnight.

Danny and Anwar have worked closely with the playing squad for the past two weeks and the strong performances against Oldham Athletic and Chesterfield are an excellent platform to take these strong performances into the remaining fixtures this season.

We welcome Danny and Anwar on board on a permanent basis and we are confident our loyal supporters will join us in striving together as one in our single-minded goal of maintaining our National League position beyond the end of this campaign, continuing this Saturday at home to Eastleigh.

Danny Searle said he was desperate for the chance to help steer Ebbsfleet United to survival.

Prior to getting the job on a permanent basis, he said: “It’s not about me, the lads have been fantastic. Whatever happens, they’re good enough to stay up – they to a man were brilliant against easily the best team in the league.

“I wouldn’t have applied for the job if I didn’t think they could survive. I’m hoping the work we’ve done so far will at least give me a chance, but the club has got to do what the club has got to do – that’s what comes first, and I respect that.

“Obviously, I am going to stand here and say it should be me! I’ve made no bones about the fact that I would like the job, but we’ll see what happens next. I saw it as a fantastic opportunity and I couldn’t turn it down. I just had to grab it with both hands.”

He added: “It’s a great squad of players, but it’s about building their confidence now. The boys are good enough to be playing at this level.”

The club said upon sacking Dennis: “Ebbsfleet United have today announced the decision to part company with manager Dennis Kutrieb and first-team coach Chris Franks.

“The difficult decision comes following the defeat to Oxford City – and heading into a crucial final three months of the Vanarama National League campaign, the club’s number-one priority is to maintain our status in the division after the memorable title win and promotion that Dennis and Chris delivered in 2022/23.

“Such decisions are never easy to make, especially off the back of such a remarkable and record-breaking previous season, but the status of the football club must always take priority and be foremost when making these big decisions.

“Unfortunately, our form and results in 2023/24 have not reflected the sheer hard work and determination with which Dennis and Chris have approached every single minute of their time at Ebbsfleet United and the club has reached the difficult decision to part ways.

“Under the stewardship of Dennis and Chris, the club won its fifth league title, broke numerous records in doing so, reached the Emirates FA Cup First and Second Rounds, qualified for a promotion final and earned plaudits for the type of football on show, we cannot thank them enough for their service in their three-plus years at the Kuflink Stadium and we wish them all the very best in their future careers.”
