Doncaster angered by several incidents involving fans during Lincoln defeat

Doncaster Rovers have been angered by several incidents involving fans and stewards during the defeat to Lincoln City on Tuesday.

The League Two outfit are extremely disappointed with the behaviour of some of their supporters during their Carabao Cup tie.

They say some fans went onto the pitch and there was some disorder – the club add that it won’t be tolerated.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Rovers are incredibly disappointed with the behaviour of a handful of supporters during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie with Lincoln City.

The club has stressed the importance of the Love Football, Protect The Game campaign alongside the EFL. Clubs across the country have united in a bid to stamp out crowd trouble and ensure stadiums are a safe place for all.

Unfortunately several incidents took place both during and after the game at the Eco-Power Stadium:

In the 13th minute, following Lincoln’s first goal, a pyrotechnic was ignited within the away section of the stadium. Examination of CCTV has revealed a suspect and information has been passed to Lincolnshire Police, with action to follow.

Following Lincoln’s third goal in the 61st minute, three Rovers supporters entered the field of play. The males, aged 15, 16 and 17, were dealt with by police and action will follow from South Yorkshire Police. All three individuals will receive immediate club bans.

Following the game, there were sporadic outbreaks of disorder between Rovers supporters that were quickly dealt with and brought under control.

Doncaster Rovers will not tolerate any behaviour that puts players, officials or supporters at risk. We will seek police assistance in detaining any offenders and will proactively issue club bans against any person identified as being involved in such behaviour.

Every football fan should feel safe attending matches.

As always, we would like to thank the majority of our fan base who behaved impeccably on the evening of the game.

Fans reacted with Doncaster left angered by several incidents involving fans during the defeat to Lincoln…

@DRFCJM1: Kids should be supervised by an adult simple enforce it.

@djoftherovers: Get more stewards, stop employing old age pensioners as stewards, what will they do to stop people running on pitch ??

@aaron_challoner: Embarrassing behaviour from those fans! So glad I wasn’t in that stand tonight and for those that were in the south stand and didn’t do anything wrong then I’m sorry on behalf of the fanbase that your experience got ruined ❤️

@RhysDRFC: I swear people just go out there way to try and embarrass this club.

@sara_cushy: Since unreserved seating as been in place its been awful sat in that stand , we moved to family stand not because of the kids we moved because of majority of adults treating it like a circus, plenty of times my teenagers have been told to sit down for cheering or singing

@BaileyVickerage: Tonight was just embarrassing. Black bank now just full of kids who go just to get out of the house and don’t even watch the football. Doesn’t help tho when the stewards just let them do it.

@JT__90: I say it every time! Reserved seating again, the top section which creates atmosphere needs to be 18+ not heard a good song or had good atmosphere at home for a while, makes you not want to go.

@AshleyMallett3: This has been coming for a while I’m afraid. My dad and I had to move from the south stand to the west because the Black Bank is an accident waiting to happen. If you don’t close it, even for a few games, it will.

@Ryankisby: Pay for stewards, it helps.

@RocketJonnie: Lovely club they said! Set of fucking wrong ‘ens 🤣 #bcafc #drfc

@AndyPearson2: Some strange behaviour tonight.

@RedInTheMids: Just play games behind closed doors for a bit. Not like we are missing anything worth watching is it

@GrantHill489: Sound like WEST STAND B needs a comeback 😁😁

@chris65431: What do you expect with a performance like that its time for the cheap option of a manager to go clearly he can’t manage a piss up in a brewery

@LEEM1512: Club is a joke from top to bottom, and has been for a couple of years or so. Ferguson’s article the other day says it all – a board happy with lower league consolidation. Semi-pro McSheffrey in charge. At least we win community awards, though! #DRFC

@Matt_Walker96: Any chance of sorting the stewarding out? Absolutely useless tonight

@will87589: Are you shocked. The black bank has been filled with absolute irritants for the last couple of years. Hence why I sat in west last year and can’t even bring myself to go this year. Get the lot of the little shits banned

@DRFCFans_: The fight outside wasn’t dealt with the stewards stood their and watched a guy get jumped by 5 people and 2 older men had to save him

@Bethaanymiller: Said it from the day it was made unreserved seating, it’ll cause problems, and look. Go back to how it used to be rather than idiotic kids ruling the whole stand

@VikingWay_: What happened on the pitch last night wasn’t great but this is the main concern. Things seems poorly organised at the stadium nowadays. It was such a free for all we had kids running on the pitch 🤦‍♂️Crowds will continue to fall if the match day experience doesn’t improve. #DRFC

@TheLukeBeniston: Proper embarrassing that tonight. Mind you the fact one of them was 20+ stone and managed to outrun the stewards trying to catch him says a lot about the stewarding #drfc
