Darlington player Luke Trotman joins up for the current series of Love Island, becoming the second non league star to join the show with Oxford City’s right-back Finn Tapp also on it.
Whilst the Quakers make their way down south to Chester for their National League North clash, their defender will instead be among the contestants catching some sun in South Africa.

Luke is currently sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury for the season, with Darlo saying he has their full backing and full support.
A statement published via the club’s website, said: “The possibility of Luke appearing on Love Island was discussed by Luke and club representatives, and he is doing rehab on the island under physio instruction.
“He has also had a gym access and a programme to continue rehab. We would like to wish Luke the best of luck in his adventure.”
Luke mentioned of his injury on Instagram, and uploaded a picture of himself in a hospital bed following an operation last year. He was then told by doctors he wouldn’t be able to return to football for nine months.

The Darlington player has already claimed to have an eye on Leanne Amaning, Siânnise Fudge, Sophie Piper and Rebecca Gormley.
“I really like girls who are intelligent, so I’d be looking for someone who’s got a bit of something about them,’ he said.
“I wouldn’t ever play anyone. I wouldn’t lie to someone and then go and do something else. I’d try and be open.”
As mentioned, he will be inside the same villa as Oxford City’s Finn Tapp, who actually did not inform the National League South side that the would be going on the show.
They tweeted last week: “The club was not aware Finn Tapp was going on Love Island – this is normal protocol for all contestants. We understand and wish Finn luck on the show.”

And we are still paying him the alleged £500 per week? Do we shareholders get a cut of his TV appearance fee? And take it he’s excused from any club PR duties while in South Africa?
