Stockport County player Festus Arthur is attracting interest from Leicester and three EFL clubs in Hull, Ipswich and Barnsley, according to reports this week.
The 18 year old centre-back managed to break into the Hatters’ first team at the start of the campaign but has racked up 24 appearances since then, and produced many an impressive performance.
That has helped Stockport climb up to 8th in the National League table and are currently challenging for the playoffs in their first season back at the highest level of the non league pyramid.
The Hamburg-born player, who is out of contract this summer, has also managed to get on the scoresheet twice! Not bad for a defender.
It’s claimed that there have been plenty of scouts checking out the teenager, so if County want to recoup a fee for him, they will need to sell this month or risk losing their star on a free transfer.
The club describe him as a ‘powerful centre-half’ and note that he has also appeared in central midfield.

After finding out that Stockport player Festus Arthur is attracting interest from Leicester and three EFL clubs, Hatters fans gave their reaction on Facebook…
Wendy Burke: I’m sure Festus will aim higher than Barnsley if he goes
Danny Hancock: Take him
Steve Burke: 2 million he can go ???
Phil Panton: We’re in a lot stronger position now, to enable us to keep our talented players, unlike previous seasons when we had nothing to offer them to make them stay. Festus strikes me as a very level headed kid, who realises he is still learning his trade & appreciates the opportunity he’s been given by this club…plus the fact that we are about to take off, & who wouldn’t want to be part of that
Dave Moore: There’s no reason now why we can’t give him a decent contract, sign him up for 5 yrs, then in 2 yrs, if he wants to go, we’ll get a big fee for him.
