Leicester fans make their feelings known to their players and manager Russell Martin after a 1-1 draw with 10-man Barnsley.

Leicester went ahead after just 7 minutes through Liam Cullen, then saw Barnsley go a man down when Luca Connell was sent off.

But despite having an extra man on the pitch for much of the game, they couldn’t extend their lead, Reyes Cleary came to the rescue to level the scoreline, and the Foxes were booed off, while Barnsley were applauded.

There were loud boos from a packed out away end and chants of “Russell Martin, your football is sh*t” during the game and while Russell Martin made his way down the tunnel.

Martin said: “Had 50 odd touches in the opposition box and not score more than one goal. So it is frustrating.”

Interviewer: “Does that add to the frustration given the fact that there were opportunities and as you say maybe just I don’t know that ruthless nature was lacking as opposed to not being able to create the chances?”

Martin: “Yeah I think we had four big chances, miss three and in their box so much and like their goal is a mistake and he has a 1v1 and finishes it brilliantly. We have 1v1s in the box relentlessly and don’t. The lack of conviction in the final action. Which is frustrating.

“So yeah, expect we scored four goals last week with nowhere near as many opportunities we’ve had today and that’s football sometimes so yeah I’m disappointed and frustrated with the way we’re I think everyone is, I all the players are.

“We know we’re missing opportunities to get back to back wins and build some nice momentum and energy before the break.

“So we have a game Tuesday, we will have a really strong side and we want to win and make sure that the final action is better than today.”

Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel said, as per Yorkshire Post: “Iā€™m very proud. I said to the players, this fight, this passion, this mentality, it’s earned for me more than a win today.

“It was a reaction that we needed after the last three games. We worked hard and we played against, in my opinion, the best team in possession in this league, with one player less, 75-80 minutes, and we delivered a fight on the pitch, every ball.

“And I don’t want to say it so much, because they have also some really good situations to score, but it doesn’t matter. Everybody was tired – especially with PK (Patrick Kelly), who five minutes before the game finished had a big chance to do the big win. But I think the draw is really positive for us.

“The basics in football are fighting, defending, try to win, take your body in, bring passion on the pitch – and this is what my team did today.”
