Crystal Palace duo Luka Milivojevic and Michy Batshuayi were forced to be SEPARATED by team-mates in a training ground bust-up.
The captain Luka Milivojevic and striker Michy Batshuayi, who is on loan from Chelsea, had to be pulled apart by squad members at Copers Cope Road based in the area of Beckenham.
The furious attack came as the club were preparing for their Premier League draw at Arsenal, which was a rather dull affair as the game finished 0-0 on Thursday night.
According to reports, players and staff couldn’t believe what they were seeing when the duo clash with the tense training exercise getting out of control on Wednesday.
The heated moment is understood to have started by Milivojevic getting irritated at Batshuayi’s attitude during a passing drill.
That includes players being told by the coaches to test one another’s first touch in kicking the ball with increasing power.
Milivojevic then hit out at Batshuayi who had been messing around for smashing the ball too hard towards his partner for the drill, this in turn then led to Mili smashing it straight at the Belgium striker from close range.
The pair exchanged blows and Milivojevic ended up getting taken to the grounf, where he continued to lash out at Batshuayi before both were split up by their colleagues.
Those watching on have told the media that Batshuayi was angry at what he viewed as an unprovoked attack against him before then attempting to carry on retaliating back before being getting dragged away by team-mates.
It is thought that Palace have chose not to discipline either player since the incident, with it to be addressed by manager Roy Hodgson.
Despite the Crystal Palace duo being SEPARATED by team-mates in the training ground bust-up, it appears that it hasn’t had a dramatic consequence on the squad’s morale with Milivojevic playing for 89 minutes in the 0-0 draw at Arsenal, and Batshuayi an unused substitute, though that’s not a rare sight considering he has not started since November.
This isn’t the first time that Milivojevic has got himself into trouble as it was on New Year’s Eve that he had a party with at least seven people, breaking lockdown rules.
Hodgson criticised the midfielder’s actions and fans called for him to be dropped or stripped as captain, however he was still selected for the next match and Roy said: ‘I am rather surprised if there’s an outcry from Palace fans, knowing that they are more concerned basically with us winning matches, but this is a breach of Government guidelines and we apologise.’
Mili said: ‘As captain of Crystal Palace, I am fully aware that my responsibilities go beyond football and that I have let the fans, the club, my manager and team-mates down.
‘I am very sorry to anyone who has been made to feel angry, hurt or upset by my actions. I am making a donation to the local NHS service to help them continue their incredible work.’
Also, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze has been fined following an investigation by the FA.
The Premier League midfielder was spotted at his former club Queens Park Rangers’ FA Cup tie at Fulham on Saturday – just 24 hours after clubs were reminded of their responsibilities amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Eze breached of Covid rules just a day after the Premier League wrote to all clubs to remind them to reinforce coronavirus protocols.
