Clive Tyldesley has been told to ‘stay strong’ by social media users as he issues an health update from his hospital bed.
The much loved football commentator, shared two posts from hospital, saying it was an ‘investigative thing’, while also showcasing his gratitude for the NHS (National Health Service).
Tyldesley is seen in a hospital gown with nasal cannulas suggesting he underwent some medical tests or procedures, however he assures that he is alright, providing a personal touch about healthcare outcomes, emphasising recovery and positive patient experiences.
He tweeted: “Another great NHS experience today. I’m so grateful for the expertise, care and smiles I got today. And I’m fine!! 😉
“My post was about the excellence of the NHS. I’m absolutely fine and watching the game. I’ll be at the Etihad next Tuesday. They were just looking for something and found nothing 🤣 – barely a brain cell! 😂”

The 70-year-old celebrates his 50th year commentating on football, having spent much of it on ITV between 1998 and 2024. He was the broadcaster’s lead commentator for 22 years, before being replaced by Sam Matterface in 2020.
He then continued with ITV for another four years, before being told his contract wouldn’t be renewed following Euro 2024 – leading to backlash from fans.
On his departure from ITV, he said to the Mail in 2024: “The ITV football editor phoned me to tell me I would be going home after the last 16. I asked if there would be any other opportunities and he said that ITV would not be offering me another contract and so that will be it after 28 years.
“I’ve never fully understood but I have to accept it. I still think my work is strong enough to resonate with old and young.
“It’s a strange situation because I am not retiring and have no intention of doing so. This is not my decision – it’s theirs.”
Tyldesley insisted he had no bad feelings towards his former employers, however said at the time he hadn’t any intention of retiring from commentary.
These days, he can be heard covering Amazon Prime’s coverage of the Premier League and Champions League, plus American broadcaster CBS Sports.
After signing a four-year deal with the latter last summer, he said: “All I can do is keeping reviewing my own standards, keep making myself available. If someone like CBS – who have given me a four-year contract to cover Champions League for the USA – show that sort of confidence in me then I can only assure you I will repay that faith by working bloody hard and trying to be as good as I can be.”
As mentioned, Clive Tyldesley has been told by well-wishers to ‘stay strong’ as he issues a health update from a hospital bed…
