Beaconsfield Town confirm an exciting new management team as Nantwich Town sack their boss and head coach with immediate effect.

The Southern League – Premier South outfit bring in Neil Baker and Jon Underwood as Joint First Team Managers, as successors to Gary Meakin who parted company five days ago.

The directors added thanks to Gary for his significant contribution over the past five years, and wish him every success in his future endeavours.

Beaconsfield currently sit 12th with 40 points from 31 games played, 14 points from the playoff places, and 12 points abov the drop zone.

BEACONSFIELD STATEMENT

Beaconsfield Town Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Neil Baker and Jon Underwood as joint First Team Managers. Trent Phillips, who spent ten years with Neil and Jon at Slough Town, will also join as Goalkeeping Coach.

“Neil & Jon have a proven track record in management and their experience in the National League is what stood out for us when considering who to entrust with the next steps forward for this club. The directors are extremely proud of the club’s achievements over the past 5 years, but we are making this appointment to reflect our ambition to sustainably progress to the National League, at the forefront of our minds.”

The new management team will start with immediate effect.

It was in November 2022 that Neil Baker and Jon Underwood made the decision to resign after nearly a decade in charge of the National League South side.

The duo, centre-back partners in their playing days, had come in to transform Slough in nearly 10 years, taking them from Step 4 of non league football to a side with regular finishes in the National League South since the 2018/19 season.

Slough say: “Both promotions were achieved via the playoffs, firstly to the Southern League, Premier Division in a thrilling 3-2 victory at Kettering Town in 2014 and then four years later coming from behind again to win 2-1 at Kings Lynn Town to reach the National League South.

“In cup competitions they have reached the FA Cup Second Round twice before losing at home to League One sides Rochdale and Gillingham, and in 2019 led the club to victory in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup Final against Reading.”

Meanwhile, Nantwich Town confirm that manager Ritchie Sutton and Head Coach Gary Taylor Fletcher have left the club with immediate effect.

The statement goes on to say: “This isn’t a decision that has been taken lightly, as we all sincerely believed that they had the potential and skills to create something special for the longer term and they have both put an incredible amount of work, expertise and passion in trying to achieve success for our club and the fact that this hasn’t been possible, is a great disappointment to everyone.

“We would like to sincerely thank them for the contribution that they have made during a difficult time and we wish them every success in their future endeavours.

“We are now in the process of appointing a successor which we hope to have in place within the next 24 hours.”

Following the 2-1 defeat to Morpeth, the club sit 19th with 32 points from 33 games played and three points from safety in the Northern Premier League – Premier Division.
