Barrow put in a complaint as EFL officials postpone their League Two match against Bradford City just an hour before kick off.
After conducting a pitch inspection, authorities determined that the playing surface at the SO Legal Stadium was unsuitable for matches.
Despite this ruling, Barrow has contested the decision and announced their plans to file a formal complaint, issuing a statement below…
They tweeted: “We’re very disappointed to announce that the match officials have called today’s Sky Bet League Two match against Bradford City off.
“We believe the pitch is in a playable state and are extremely disappointed by this outcome.
“A rearranged date for the fixture and ticket information for that match will be released in due course.
“Following this matter, we’ll put a compliant towards the EFL.
“We will be conducting an open training session this afternoon at the SO Legal Stadium instead.”

Twitter users reacted as Barrow confirm they will put in a complaint as officials postpone their match against Bradford an hour before kick off…
@IHemmens: The only positive about the match being off is it might give our injured players an extra week to recover. We were starting to look a bit threadbare. Otherwise the decision looks totally bizarre & reading Barrow’s comments, both teams are bewildered by the decision #bcafc
@RobGWarren4: EFL officials at it once again.
@MattBadweather: How shit for Bradford fans 2.5 hiur trip for it get called off an hour before, on a pitch that according to most including Barrow is more than playable. Going to football is costly, seems like the refs had a mare here
@TaylorBAFC: An absolute embarrassment for the EFL. A request for a pitch inspection last night to avoid this situation was rejected, only for the officials to call it off at the last moment. The pitch actually looks better today than it has when deemed playable. Back to Wigan it is…
@bottslock: It’s a disgrace. We’ve travelled from Bradford, stopped off at ulverton and find out 5mins before catching the train to Barrow. The @EFL have some explaining to do. The pitch we played on, on Wednesday evening was like a cowfield compared to the pictures I’ve seen today. #bcafc
@Mickyboy74: What a disgrace of a referee … Is he going to compensate all fans that are here @EFL
@AndrewSteel88: Another fine job from our upstanding EFL boys in black.
@TobyHunter2004: 1 Hour Before…. I feel sorry for the fans who have travelled…. disgusting #bcafc
@AshJKay: Did the ref give a reason, not been funny have you seen city’s ground, was on sky sports during the week looks like a mud ring, shame for the fans of both teams only game in the football league to be called off
@Mickyboy74: Disgrace of a referee !!!!
@mcmillan_liam: Why doesn’t the ref change it to the Furness rovers pitch next door seen as though their game is on
@townsonethan1: Nice of the referee to make it all about himself
@Benf1yde: Absolute farce
@nezgudgeon: Why didn’t the ref inspect it earlier thousand Bradford fans already there utter shambles #bcafc
@StuartAkister: Usual reminder when something like this happens……the ref has called it off not Barrow, your very much directing your abuse in the wrong direction by abusing Barrows social media guy
@Michael20897061: The officials in the @EFL are a disgrace
@DarthGoose13: Well, fuck. Refs had a shocker. #bcafc
@jorich21: At 2pm 🙄 Absolutely shocking for the fans this, but the #EFL doesn’t give a stuff
@bcafcwin: Well done EFL your officials are not fit for purpose. In an already congested fixture list just creating more issues! Pathetic! #BCAFC
@_chris96bcfc: From what I can tell it’s one goalmouth is a bit rough and not much bounce. Fact is if both teams are happy to play, it’s not endangering anyone’s safety then they should be allowed to play. Woke nonsense
@StandingAlone77: Checks to see who the ref is… Tom Neild. Yeah, figures. Guy is an embarrassment of an official. 🙄
@reidybafc: Watch everybody jump on this when it was out of the club’s control. Harsh on the Bradford fans who travelled; but ultimately the decision is made by the match official. Pitch isn’t great condition but I’m sure worst have been played on in the #EFL
For what it’s worth, I’m genuinely baffled by that decision. The fact that all concerned, apart from the referee, was of the opinion that it was playable says it all. No thought or concern for the supporters, especially those who’ve made the long journey. Ridiculous. #bcafc
