Barnsley manager set to announce resignation

According to reports, Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel will leave the club prior to their next match against Swansea City.

Dispute over summer business and the board’s concerns with the horrid run of results has apparently made his position untenable.

The Tykes currently sit two points above safety in the Championship table and are without a win in their last 11 matches after being hammered 5-1 against Preston North End.

After the game, he said: “The players want to fight and never give up but after the games we have lost we have lost a little bit of confidence.

“You can see each player has a problem with himself.

“It’s very difficult when another player cannot help when one makes a mistake.

“Every player had a lot of problems and Preston played well.

“At the moment we are playing like a team that is not good enough to play in the Championship.

“We are all really down after the game and it is not easy for us to play our game at the moment. The changing room was very quiet.”

Stendel came in at Barnsley back in June 2018 and manage to guide them to an immediate return to the Championship at the end of his first season.

HIS RECORD AS BARNSLEY BOSS:
