Barnsley fans punch Charlton stewards at the end of yesterday’s Championship clash as can be seen in a video posted on social media site Twitter.

Around 1,000 Barnsley fans made the trip down from South Yorkshire, only for it to become a rather miserable day after watching their side lose, be goaded by one of the goalscorers, and then get themselves in a melee.

It came after the Addicks earned only their second win in 18 Championship games as goals by Lyle Taylor and Andre Green saw off relegation-threatened Tykes side.

A group of fans watched on as stewards were getting assaulted and women tried pulling men back to calm the situation down.

One member of staff was praised however, one Twitter user wrote: “This man right here wants all the respect from every single Barnsley fan today because when it all kicked off today in the away end he helped get all the young kids and elderly people out off the way and we cannot thank you enough for that @CAFCofficial he is a great man ?”

There have been no official reports or statements from club or police after Barnsley fans punch Charlton stewards, but supporters have given their reaction to it along with the video uploaded…
