Aston Villa unveil their updated North Stand plans with proposed designs shown in a great video, published via their website.
Councillors of Birmingham have approved plans to redevelop Villa Park with the North Stand to have an additional 7,400 seats, bringing the total capacity to 50,000.
A fly-through video of their stadium redevelopment plans has been revised, with some notable changes around the ground compared to the initial video released months back compared to the new one (seen below).
CLUB STATEMENT:
Aston Villa can confirm the Club’s updated plans for the redevelopment of the North Stand and its immediate vicinity.
A series of amendments have been submitted as part of a revised planning application to Birmingham City Council which include minor changes to the North Stand itself while there are also new plans for the existing Academy building.
The Premier League club is also continuing to explore exciting and dynamic concepts across the stadium itself in addition to the other functional buildings and spaces on the footprint of Villa Park, all with user experience, wider community functionality and positive impact on the local area in mind.
The redevelopment will increase Villa Park’s capacity to over 50,000 and modernise the stadium to create a world class entertainment venue that can host major international sports tournaments and other events.
Villa Park was recently selected as a venue in the UK and Ireland’s bid to host the UEFA Euro 2028 Championship with a decision on who will secure the tournament to be announced in October. The outcome of this revised and new application is expected during the Autumn.
A fundamental part of our redevelopment plans involves the successful implementation of a modern, integrated transport strategy which substantially improves how our fans and visitors arrive and depart Villa Park.
The club are working closely with the West Midlands Combined Authority, West Midlands Rail Executive and Birmingham City Council to finalise a plan for the station. WMCA are commissioning a technical design study to support the process of unlocking funding to implement the proposed upgrades.
Here’s what fans are saying as Aston Villa unveil updated North Stand plans with proposed designs shown in a video…
@theavfcfaithful: I like this.
@cammoff02: Yeah can see why they bumped out season ticket prices this is unreal
@JamesQ1986: So turn the club shop into Herbert’s Yard. That sounds facetious, but I really don’t mind it. I don’t really want to be going to Villa Park because they have a big Next shopping attached
@EM1_Szn: All rests on the council now to improve transport
@JayVtid: Quite like the concept of the Warehouse.
@OcBen: Interesting tagline on the video. More than a stadium. Sounds like there’s a lot more planned for phase 2
@MarcMurrell1: I really like the updated plans, I always thought knocking down stumps to build a newer building a bit of a strange one especially financially UTV
@louisdebono2: It’s looks so good but this ain’t getting done till 2030 😭
@jackluckhurst16: This is really exciting. Hopefully the Villa Live building will be built after Euro 2028. I can’t wait for us to have 50,000 and then a few years after that a 60,000 Villa Park. It’s going to be great!
@IsThatPaulBond: 😍 looks the bollocks
@StaffsVillan: The Warehouse is much more in keeping with Birminghams industrial heritage and it is much more pleasing to the eye than the proposed Villa Live building. That’s just my opinion though I’m sure there are many who will disagree. #utv #vtid #avfc #VillaPark
@VillaPaddy: Fast work going on here 👏🏻
@KiannnnnnnnA: Really looking forward to this Villa Park is home and this new stand and warehouse building will look very good I’m sure
@thawkk__: Can’t wait to see the new north stand from my Holte seat going to look class 🤩🤩
@_stonyd: I’m a bit underwhelmed by the stand itself. Compared to what Liverpool have done with their Anfield Rd stand it’s not on par at all. For me there has been so much about the Villa live venue and now the Warehouse, it’s as though the stand itself has been forgotten
@ORSDsoldier: Think this looks better. Nice to have thy open space between the warehouse and the stand
@AVFC_Hatchet: Looking Promising
@Chumbageni: For me, improvement on initial plan. Like renovation of warehouse building retaining heritage. Plus more space outside new North Stand
@RationalVillan: Love it! 😍
@Ell_George2: I like this, very smart
@SuttonVillans: Looking Promising
@ChrisMoreton12: Villa Live scrapped then?
@ChazzaAVFC: I think it’s better tbf. Same thing as Villa live and just keeping an old building and making it more modern. Easy work
@MrChristopher88: It will be cheaper to keep the Academy and change it to the warehouse to then knock it down and build a new building
@TardisPilot1: Probably get revised again in 5 years while we still wait for the redevelopment to happen of it ever will..
