CLUB STATEMENT:
Alfreton Town Football Club is aware of an incident involving a group of young individuals at Saturday’s fixture who were not supporters of Alfreton Town, and which appears to have been a planned attack.
We would like to apologise to those affected, including both Bedford Town and Alfreton Town supporters, for any distress caused during and after the match.
The club is taking this matter extremely seriously and is investigating the incident internally, while also working closely with the relevant authorities to establish the full circumstances and next steps.
The safety of all supporters, staff, players and visiting fans remains our highest priority.
@razor1974: Find them, name them, ban them, get a grip and get them chucked out if they turn up this weekend,
@grassrootschair: Sounds like same youths who did the same at ilkeston last tuesday
@dlprime87: Just to let you know they were doing the same thing outside after the Leamington game as well they chased a lemmington fan came running up to us on the way out saying he was chased by alfreton fans they where the same kids
Steve Caulcott: This is what is spoiling non league football now. Feral kids aged about 12 to 16 who are abusive to everyone, uncontrolled by stewards and just do and say whatever they want. No interest in the football at all.
Nigel Wright: Was shouting abuse after Kidderminster game at there Supporters coach No way Supporters of Alfreton, Yes fully think was planned.
Brin Bailey: They were running up and down Alma Street and hanging around the residents cars and at one point sitting on a wall outside an elderly couples property, it appears once they were outside the ground they were free to roam about totally unchallenged, this is a regular occurance when visiting fans of the bigger clubs spill out from the ground and not an isolated incident
Bob Tanner: Just feel I need to comment on the prevalence of unruly behaviour at certain locations in and around the North Midlands regions football grounds. Belper Town v Corby recently, where the away contingent felt the need to set off flares was a good idea celebrating a goal. Thankfully, no fighting. It’s a difficult job being a steward. However, something needs to be done, and enforced, to protect the well ordered supporters and the good name of the clubs. Non League football doesn’t want, doesn’t need idiots tagging on, intent on trouble. 🙏⚽👍🤠
Peter Wood: We had that at South Shields FC but quickly got on top of it and they were banned
Peter Norris: Bedford Town fans are the friendliest, and welcome all away fans. Banter yes, trouble no.
Jesse Lamby: Nottingham Forest fan here Im sorry to hear about what happened at your club there’s absolutely no need for this to happen in football well done to Alfreton Town FC for all the support there doing for the fans and to the young individuals absolutely no need for any of this should be ashamed of yourself 🙏
Glyn Bradshaw: We Alfreton fans didn’t see what had happened at first . All we saw was the stewards ushering the idiots away. It looked like the ringleader was the idiot with the red flare. As you saw in the first half , the majority of the true home fans were having a bit of banter with the Bedford fans at the top end as we like to stand behind the goal which we are attacking. There was no trouble then .
Ailsa Cooling: Very well said. The persons involved were clearly only intent on causing trouble and spoiling the afternoon for those present. The stewards were prompt in their response and removed the offenders from the ground. I sincerely hope it is possible to identify them and at the very least ensure they are never admitted to ground again.
Jonathan Case: They should never have been allowed in the ground in the first place. A group of feral teenage kids like that left the stewards helplessly inadequate. Good luck guys for the season. It’s such a pity as there seemed to be some really good folk there at Alfreton.
Peter Adamson: I would like to thank all of the Alfreton club stewards and other staff for their support during and following this incident. We at Bedford fully understand the person’s involved did not represent your club.
