Aldershot have THREE different goalkeepers play in goal for 3-0 defeat at Eastleigh

Aldershot have THREE different goalkeepers play in goal for their 3-0 defeat at Eastleigh in a day to forget for Tommy Widdrington’s side.

In the 35th minute, Aldershot’s keeper Jordi Van Stappershoef was handed a red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity and outfield player Lorent Tolaj went between the sticks, only for his first action was to pick the ball out of the net.

Then in the 67th minute, step-in keeper Lorent Tolaj was then sent up front with Kwame Thomas coming on to put on the gloves for Aldershot. Like Tolaj, Thomas’ first action was to get the ball out of the net.

Eastleigh started life after the departure of Lee Bradbury in rather comfortable fashion against 10-man Aldershot to claim their first victory of the season.

Bradbury lost his job following Friday’s 2-0 loss at Southend, but the Spitfires, who are now under interim managers Richard Hill and Jason Bristow, got a much needed win to climb up to 15th in the National League table.

Van Stappershoef received his straight red card after taking out Aidan Barlow just outside the area, but with no back up keeper on the becnch, on came striker Lorent Tolaj to take the gloves.

Straight after, Chris Maguire scored from the resulting free-kick, in off the underside of the crossbar.

Eastleigh made it 2-0 in the 64th minute when summer addition Enzio Boldewijn got his head on a corner.

Soon after, there was another change of keepers, Tolaj was sent further up the pitch while another forward in Kwame Thomas came back to replace him between the sticks.

However, Thomas then conceded almost immediately as Eastleigh thanks to Boldewijn.

Fans reacted as Aldershot have THREE different goalkeepers play in goal for 3-0 defeat at Eastleigh…

@TweetFromUranus: I’m sorry, they have a player called Glover and he didn’t go in goal? Missed opportunity.

@AbleTom5: Stappershoef is Dutch for Shotstopper

@Jimbokav1971: Van Stoppershoef? Good name for a GK. πŸ˜‚

@Matt_Walker96: Outfield players going in goal and struggling to hide how excited they are about it is one of the great things in football

@Regi1700:
A) Van Stappershoef is a fantastic name for a goalkeeper
B) Did they not have a substitute keeper on the bench?
C) Big fan of the wall making absolutely no effort πŸ˜‚

@Vamos_DCU: To be fair, this is a great free kick

@gc7il3y: Wanted him to save that an all πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@GeorgeMorey93: Crazy that Prem clubs can name 54 substitutes and managers complain but National League clubs are still stuck with naming 5 subs

@Jordan_Toddy: Can never work out why you wouldn’t have a keeper on the bench anyway πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ₯΄

@liam93b: Why would you put shortest guy possible in goal

@MickMcCarthy92: How do they make this decision? Do they discuss it before hand or do they look for volunteers at the last moment?

@camelxcvii: Chris Maguire man

@StephenMurray87: Four man wall, only one of them jumped, and he only got about six inches off the ground. Dear me. #NationalLeague

@Diggerthedog1: Limbs in that Eastleigh end 😬

@ShotsCraig: A couple of years ago Aldershot’s goalkeeper Ethan Ross was injured and was replaced by substitute goalkeeper Mitch Walker. Walker subsequently got injured himself and was replaced in goal by striker Harrison Panayiotou. Aldershot’s opponents that day? Eastleigh!

@OfficialChops: Another example was Chelsea: Cech and Cudicini got injured and John Terry stepped in to make it 3 that day.

@Cian89_: You gotta love the National League 😍

@DensParkChoir: King Kwame, safe hands.

@happymondees: 2 ex dee strikers in goal!!
