9th tier Bury sign 35 year old experienced former EFL player Lewis Alessandra as the club target promotion to the Northern Premier League.
He joins having most recently been at Hyde United, who tweeted over the weekend: “Good luck to @LewiAlessandra having moved on to Bury. We thank him for all his efforts last season.”
His Mum, Trisha Alessandra, also wrote on Facebook: “Come on son! Plenty of goals this year ⚽️⚽️💙”
Currently, the Shakers are enduring their second season in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division, losing on penalties to Wythenshawe Town in the playoff final last season.
And so far for the 2024/25 campaign under Dave McNabb, they’ve won one and drew twice, leaving them 10th, but two points off the leaders at this early stage of the season and are conceding a lot and leaving fans frustrated.
New additions are coming in at Gigg Lane, here’s one of their latest…

Here’s how fans reacted as 9th tier Bury sign 35 year old experienced former EFL player Lewis Alessandra…
@Simdru: Great pedigree & experience.
@shane_s15: Great signing for this level
@D_scriv82: Good luck Lewi lad, ⚽️👌🏼
@T145Alex: Madness to think he’s 35 now, remember him breaking through in the 2007/8 season for us #oafc
Steve Carrington: Did quite well when he came on.
Chris Powell: Great signing
Jason Lee: really hope he can help them in getting promoted, a much needed signing this to try and get bury on a winning run.
Paul Simmonds: A great addition. Fingers crossed he can bring and share his experience, to help out the squad, give us a boost in momentum, optimism, because right now fans are growing frustrated with performances. Promotion is a must this season
James Pickup: It didn’t feel like we were watching Bury FC today at all, it felt lifeless watching a new squad on a strange pitch. The complete lack of warmth, lack of atmosphere, lack of sponsor boards, the sparce (4 people) in the 1885 suite, has made me feel angry but mainly upset. After the years we battled to get Gigg back and all the sleepless nights and stress which accompanied it, it was so upsetting today to see such a fractured fanbase and lack of investment throughout. It’s a very worrying time, and if changes aren’t made within our board, sadly we are in for a very worrying few years. It doesn’t matter how many good players we bring in, we will never been successful when we have such a torn fanbase. Fans need to be heard, correct decisions need to be made for the love of the club, not for individual egos. I’ve not felt this low since we lost our club 4 years ago!
Terry Taylor: Good signing, should be alright on the goals front, we really need to sort the defence out, get a new centre back, really need to sort that or we’re not going up
Gary Stevenson: Bury, please, get in a centre back! Conceding way too many goals
