Wrexham’s Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney get hilariously caught out by the offside flag, thinking they had seen a late equaliser.
The famous duo were celebrating ecstatically, thinking their side had scored in the 95th minute of the seven added on, only for it to not be given.
The FA Trophy Final finished in favour of opponents Bromley who won the game 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Wembley Stadium.
Reynolds and McElhenney bought the National League outfit in November 2020, and were in attendance, hoping to see Wrexham pick up some silverware.
They were joined by their families, while David Beckham and Will Ferrell was randomly present to watch.
Michael Cheek put Bromley in the lead in the 64th minute, leaving Wrexham with a big challenge on their hands.
Heading into added time, Wrexham were still behind, but they created one final chance, with substitute Jake Hyde heading home from close range.
The goal sparked jubilant scenes in the Wrexham end, but around 20,000 fans quickly realised that the offside flag had gone up.
Reynolds and McElhenney appeared oblivious to what was going on as they continued to celebrate and went to hug each other in their private box.
They both eventually realised and stopped celebrating, yet also appeared baffled as to why the goal had been ruled out.
Someone should get a message to the Wrexham owners box ASAP 😬 pic.twitter.com/qhgyxxlARa

Moments later, the final whistle blew, with Bromley holding on to seal a 1-0 victory.

Attendance: 46,111.
The Welsh side have made the National League play-offs, and will be in semi-final action on Saturday, May 28. Though should they get to the final, they won’t be at Wembley, but instead West Ham’s London Stadium, on the same day Wales play for a chance to qualify for the World Cup.
“I felt some of our approach play was decent,” said Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson.
“We got in some very good areas but we couldn’t find that bit of quality in the final third to unlock the door and get us in the lead, or get us back in the game when we went 1-0 down.
“There was no lack of effort or no lack of the lads trying to implement how we have been playing and how we needed to play.
“We switched the play and got the overloads in wide areas but that final cross, that final pass when we broke, just wasn’t there.
“That little bit of quality which we have shown all season just wasn’t there and as everyone knows, that is what wins games of football.”
Parkinson wanted more from Wrexham in the second half but it was Bromley who scored the only goal and clinch the vital win.
“Sometimes it can be a little of anxiousness and so determined to win the game,” added Parkinson.
“Just a little bit hurried in our final decision.
“At half-time we said to the lads we have got to get that extra pass in when we are breaking and just find that bit of quality.
“I thought we started the second half well and we had some good periods in the game.
“But football is about the final third and the one moment of real quality was when the lad broke through and he has squared the ball with a bit of calmness, and Michael Cheek has won them the game.”
Wrexham came close to a late equaliser but substitute Jake Hyde’s header was brilliantly turned over the bar by goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe and the striker also saw a goal ruled out for offside.
“We had some good chances,” said Parkinson.
“The goalkeeper made a magnificent save and then we had a goal disallowed.
“Jake has had a tough time. He had a bad injury, he has been training for a few weeks and he is ready to play his part in the play-offs.”
Bromley manager Andy Woodman said he predicted Michael Cheek to score his side’s winner against Wrexham at Wembley.
The 30-year-old was left out of the 1-1 draw against Dover Athletic last weekend and Woodman admitted that the striker wasn’t impressed.
“He didn’t talk to me last week because I left him out of the game,” Woodman joked.
“I said: ‘You need to rest’. He couldn’t get it in his head. I told him that he would score the winner at Wembley and just reminded him of that.
“Sometimes I tell the boys I know what I’m doing, today it came off. Cheeky’s been brilliant for this football club. If anyone deserves to get the winner at Wembley it is certainly him.
“What it means to me is the people at Bromley are proud of their team. The owner has put everything into this football club and I’m chuffed for him.
“He should get a lot of credit for what he’s done behind the scenes – not only for what he’s put into the club but the people he’s brought to the club.
“I’m chuffed for him and the town of Bromley, we have a team to be proud of.”

The entire stadium stopped celebrating a full 30 seconds before the clubs owners realised what was going on.
