Wolves fans were left angered after a 3-0 defeat to Leeds, and a late Brighton equaliser keeps Spurs in the drop zone.
Daniel Farke’s Leeds took a huge step towards safety thanks to goals from James Justin, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. They sit 15th with 39 points from 33 games, 8 points above the drop zone.
Brighton came from behind twice, Pedro Porro headed in from Xavi Simons’ cross. Kaoru Mitoma levelled, Xavi Simons put the hosts back in front with a brilliant strike, sparking wild celebrations, but then Georginio Rutter’s 95th minute leveller had the hosts frustrated.
The result leaves Roberto De Zerbi’s side up to 16th with 33 points from 33 games played, a point above the drop zone with Wets Ham, 18th, and Nottingham Forest, 17th, still to play this weekend.
Each time Tottenham went ahead, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ time in the Premier League came to an end after eight years. But Brighton’s fight back means for another week without the ‘R’ next to Wolves’ name.

Wolves boss Rob Edwards said, per Sky Sports:
“I completely understand the frustration and accept that. The fans should be angry and I’m never going to say anything other than that.
“They travel everywhere. They support the team and they have the right to vent their frustration and show their anger again.
“So absolutely no problem with me. I’m as angry as they are and disappointed.
“It’s obviously been a long time coming and our situation has been difficult for all of this season, and even seasons before, as we know and we’ve spoken about.
“So all I can do is promise them that we’re working extremely hard to make sure that we’re not feeling like this again.
“I actually think it’s quite apt that we’re here at Leeds at the moment. They have been through their difficulties as well, and fairly recently.
“But the way they’ve responded as a football club, you can see everybody now is right behind it. In the Cup semi-final, performing very well in the league as well.
“So it can be done. We can turn things around, and we’re working really hard to do that.”
Leeds boss Daniel Farke:
“My attitude is that nothing is achieved, nothing is done yet. To be there with 39 points, with five game-days to go, is a fantastic position to be in, but the feeling is still that we probably need to win one, perhaps even a few more points.
“And for that, we will not allow ourselves to take our foot off the gas. We will stay focused, concentrated and want to win this one (point), or perhaps even a few more points as soon as possible, to have it also mathematically done.
“We don’t want to travel on the last game-day into a nervy game anyhow, when you have to deliver a result in difficult away games. So we’ll try to win these points that we need as soon as possible.”
Tottenham boss Roberto de Zerbi, speaking to Sky Sports: “I am sorry for the result, for the players because they are suffering too much. Today we deserved to win the game against one great Brighton. A big congratulations for their style, their level of players and everything. We couldn’t concede that goal from Rutter.”
On if there was positives for him to take: “I am positive but I am proud of my players. They played a fantastic game with character and spirit. We have to be stronger than this result, we have to move on and prepare the next game and try to win the game at Wolves. If you are strong like today, I think we can compete again.”
On what he said to players after the game: “I said to be strong, to follow me again and again because I want to help them. They can change the mentality because that is the most important part. Now it’s too easy to think negative, but we have to be focused on this performance and work to find the condition to win again. I am positive because I know my players, I know their qualities. I know them like people and I believe in them.”
On his first home game as Spurs boss: “I know we are fighting to stay in the Premier League. A very difficult moment. But we are lucky, every one of us to work in this club with these fans because it was an incredible atmosphere today. You would think we are fighting for Champions League, not relegation. Until the end we will fight in every game and give our best. If we are able to give our best, it’s not finished yet.”
On if he saw positives: “Today I saw signs, I saw blood, character, qualities, organisation with and without the ball. Everything to reach our target.”
On what needs to be worked on still: “We have to improve a lot of things. The crucial part is to keep this mentality and I told the players to come on Monday afternoon with the same behaviour they showed today. I don’t want to work with sad people, with negative people. They have to believe in myself. If I am here, it’s because I am positive to stay in the Premier League next season.”
Brighton Manager Fabian Hurzeler speaking to Sky Sports: “Not our best performance but we showed belief through the whole game. We were there to win it, especially in the second half. We controlled, we dominated, we had so many chances.
“We looked good, we have to believe to win it. I have to say regarding the performance, we take the point. We are disappointed because we wanted more. We showed good character.”
On opportunities in the game: “We had the big chance and we didn’t score. They scored with a brilliant moment. We weren’t always able to defend Xavi [Simons], we didn’t always perform at the highest level but we showed real character. Our subs made a huge difference when they came into game, they had big impact and that’s positive.
We are sticking together as a group. Today wasn’t our best game but we take the point, we are still in a good run.”
On Europe hopes: “Of course we take the positives but it’s noise. There are still five big games to go, we just focus game to game.”

Here’s the social media reaction with Wolves fans angered after defeat to Leeds, and a late Brighton equaliser keeps Spurs in the drop zone…
@irishwolf99: Edwards needs to ring the changes for the final few games. Edozie, Lima, Rodrigo, Rawlings, Sutherland and others: get the kids into the team. Results largely irrelevant now, all about repaying some of our support. Don’t care if I never again see the majority of these layabouts #wwfc
@WellHardthedog: 8-9 years of work, building a team fit for Europe, played in Europe, consecutive top 10 finishes in the Prem all thrown away due to poor structure and management. Thanks Fosun, thanks Jeff ! Back to years in the wilderness. #wwfc
@tod1877: Gutless, cowardly, pathetic, spineless, timid, characterless, limp-wristed wankers, they should hold their heads in shame how theyve performed this last two games, if we kept every single player we wouldnt come back up, not one of them has got any aura or anything about them #wwfc
@WomWolf93: There’s not a single player I’d be disappointed to see the back of for next season. Hopeless. Clueless. Spineless. #wwfc
@simonhe2896032: First time in my life I actually have 0 interest in the team, you have drained the good out every match day with the pathetic, weak willed and spineless displays. It’s obvious no one can lead or motivate in that dressing room. WORST season in living memory WORST Wolves team ever #wwfc
@irishwolf99: These past two games have been lamentable. Hang your collective heads in shame. No pride or courage in this group. Too many (Angel, Krejci, Johnstone sat on his arse at home) too keen to shirk the challenge and slink away #wwfc
@LargeMan12340: Is there any point in supporting this club anymore? Where is the passion? Where are the players? Where is the manager? the shit in the toilets at the stadium could’ve played better
@Robbie_T7: Feel for you to be fair. Shows a lot about your fan base to still sell out today. Also the team could have crumbled when we got the second. Whereas I think Edwards is doing a good job, you can’t keep him when you’re down, the mentality for the players will be wrong. #wwfc
@panks_79: That’s that. We had the chance to go to the next game in a positive mindset. Blew it again. You sorry bunch of idiots. #thfc
@RicharlisonSZNx: How can you not hold a lead twice, even my team when I was 13 could fucking do better #thfc
@Bradley_0701: That’s it. We’re done, we’re relegated. Danso shouldn’t have messed around with the ball in the penalty box. Once again we bottled the lead. #thfc
@mjbthfc: Finally have a chance to win and can’t close it out, disgraceful. #thfc
@aaronpitters: Weak and pathetic per usual. Celebrate like you’ve won the league and then don’t finish the job. This club is just awful. These players just can’t do a job. Awful! #thfc
@jason_connolly: I get the relief when it went in but felt the way Simons celebrated his goal with so long still to go could come back and bite you… #thfc
@TalkoftheSpurs: How many individual mistakes have cost us points this season?? Too many. You’re only as good as your weakest player…and we’ve had too many weak performances. We ain’t fighting with these players. Can’t trust them to do the right thing. #thfc
@Georgefc1966: The team gave it their all. Just another stupid error cost us the three points. But if we can keep playing like this in our last five games then we will stay up. Just need west spam to lose on Monday night and Forest to lose tomorrow 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😎 #thfc
A much better performance; the team gave it everything.
Gutted not to get the three points. Still in the relegation zone with five games to go. Five cup finals, this attitude and fight MUST continue until the very end.#COYS #THFC pic.twitter.com/rhdRrzrVJr— Chris Cowlin (@ChrisCowlin) April 18, 2026
