West Ham fan gets criticised by own fans after secretly filming giving David Moyes ‘abuse’

A West Ham fan gets criticised by his own club’s fans after secretly filming giving David Moyes some ‘abuse’ after defeat at Crystal Palace.

In the clip which is doing the rounds online hours after the Premier League fixture, the fan can be heard giving the Hammers boss some stick, with Moyes coming over and engaging in conversation.

Recording the video on his phone, the fan says: “Moyes, hurry up and leave, time’s up! His football’s poor. Time’s up come on. Time’s up. Moyes ball is too defensive. I’m being serious.

“You should have gone after the Conference League final. My nan could have won that final. And I’m being serious. You played two teams, Fiorentina and AZ Alkmaar.

“I’m not being abusive. I’m giving my opinion. He’s got to go. Yeah, it’s a good opinion. We don’t want defensive football all the time. As I said, my Nan could have won that competition.”

Crystal Palace thrashed West Ham 5-2; with Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Jean-Philippe Mateta and an Emerson own goal putting them 4-0 up inside 31 minutes.

Michail Antonio managed to pull one back before Mateta scored a fifth; then Dean Henderson scored a late own goal.

Player ratings (as per Sky Sports)

Crystal Palace: Henderson (5), Clyne (7), Andersen (7), Richards (7), Munoz (7), Wharton (7), Hughes (7), Mitchell (7), Olise (8), Mateta (8), Eze (9).

Subs used: Ahamada (6), Ayew (6), Edouard (6), Riedewald (n/a), Schlupp (n/a).

West Ham: Fabianski (5), Coufal (5), Zouma (5), Ogbonna (5), Emerson (5), Alvarez (5), Soucek (5), Paqueta (5), Ward-Prowse (6), Kudus (6), Antonio (6).

Subs used: Cresswell (6), Johnson (6), Ings (6), Phillips (6), Cornet (n/a).

Player of the match: Eberechi Eze

West Ham manager David Moyes was furious with his side’s display, saying, per Sky Sports: “The first half was as bad as I’ve seen us play. We’ve had three or four of these incidents this season that I couldn’t believe.

“In three seasons here, I don’t think the players had gone to the depths that we’ve gone to in two or three games.

“The first half was unacceptable, mainly our defending and how we started the game. Lots of things were not correct today. We didn’t compete. It was hard to explain.

“I’m giving no excuses whatsoever. The players got praise for their performance on Thursday but today was so bad. I can hardly put it into words.

“We need a response from the players. We’ve lost a bit of the tough culture that we had – pride, making sure we didn’t concede and were hard to play against. Today we were none of them.

“I’m so disappointed for the supporters who came here today. I’m embarrassed to sit here and be speaking on behalf of the team. I’ve not had many teams who played like that in my whole career.”

However, Moyes believes European qualification is still possible, saying: “If we’d arrived in this position having won six games in a row, we’d be saying we’ve got a chance.

“Just because we’ve lost a couple of games, we’ve still got a chance. We’ll keep trying.”

Eze – who netted the second, a spectacular acrobatic kick, and set up the fifth for Jean-Philippe Mateta – told BBC Sport: “That’s a big one for us. We’re confident right now and it’s something to build on for sure for the next game.

“You can go away and win and get ahead of yourselves, so it was important to get another three points today with a good performance.

“The game coming on Wednesday [against Newcastle United], we want to be playing the same way.”

“It’s been hard this season at times, not being together on the pitch,” he said having had a difficult season at times with injuries. “But you can see what we’re capable of when we are playing together and we’re grateful to be playing in a performance like that.

“It’s a different system.. but we’re growing as a team, we’re understanding more and more each game, getting more comfortable with what he [Glasner] wants us to do, and we’re showing it with the type of performances we’re putting in now.

“I just want to keep playing football and enjoying each game that I play. Playing as I did today, that’s the main thing, and whatever happens, it’s in God’s hands.

“We’re confident, we believe in ourselves, we know what we’re capable of. And against any team we know, if we put in a performance like this, we’ve got a chance of winning.”

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner said:

“Firstly, congratulations to the team on this amazing performance and this impressive win. They [West Ham] are one of the best teams in transitions and we didn’t give them the situations.

“When we got a little bit sloppy, we conceded a goal, but in the second half we were still very concentrated. I’m very pleased.”

Asked about Olise and Eze’s impressive performances, Glasner said: “They are excellent players and important for our offence,” but added: “It’s a team game.

“We know they have fantastic qualities and they enjoyed playing like this, but we allowed West Ham four shots. This is important. Everybody has to work hard for the team and they worked hard.”

Glasner on Adam Wharton, who was replaced after a collision with Emerson, saying: “It was a knee-on-knee knock. It hurts so we will see.

“I don’t think it’s serious. It’s painful but he’s a young guy, so he can deal with the pain.”

As mentioned, the West Ham fan heard in the video at the top of the article, gets criticised by own fans after secretly filming himself giving David Moyes ‘abuse’…

@Whu_Centre: I am absolutely desperate for a change in manager and have been for months, but this is just wrong. Moyes gave us some of the best nights of our lives and ended our 42 year trophy drought. Staying behind to shout abuse at the man who gave us that is proper strange behaviour.

@XIII_I_MMXX: What a coward, recording secretly hoping to get a reaction, that they didn’t get & diminishing an achievement. Not acceptable & Moyes does deserve to be spoken to with more respect.

@leogowing23: On a human level this is disgusting. On a footballing level it’s brain dead. What gives ANYONE the right to behave like this?

@Milkman8971: That’s poor, whether you want him in or out you’ve got to be bigger than that

@chevd80: If your relative can win the europa conference league final put your money on it and let him coach the entire season

@EastLondonBowl: That’s poor! Recording it as well, hoping to get a reaction!

@rayo4591: You’re a weirdo mate

@Noble2818: Legitimately how dare you say that to someone who’s given us so much. Shame on you.

@H_WDGH: Get a life

@ClaretBluBlood: This guy isn’t being abusive and it’s about time Moyes was told that we are sick of this shit. Yes, he’s given us a trophy but every manager has their time. Had he been abusive towards him, different story….. but he wasn’t.

@Bowen_Sznnn: Proper weird this staying behind just to chuck some abuse when this man gave the club one of the best nights and pull your pants claret booze won’t shag u

@stoneymaIoney: get a grip you freak

@KingIronsIII: Have some fucking respect

@whufcalg: What a cunt. I fucking despise this fanbase with every bone in my body

@westhamsam27: The guy called them “Florentina” and expects David Moyes to take him seriously 😂😂😂

@whujoe: You’re allowed an opinion on David Moyes. But this is getting beyond a joke now. That “section” of the fanbase is not healthy, to put it mildly. Get a grip

@westhamlive5: You don’t deserve success. Simple as.

@whugdz: This is why I depise this fanbase, everything he’s done for us over these years and this is how you respond? So fucking ungrateful man, wonder if you’ll have the same opinion when we’re battling relegation next year

@notpaul1985x: A fair portion of this fanbase do not deserve success. It is really not that difficult to not like someone/something and still be a decent human being.

@ArjunGrewal17: This is absolutely disgusting, disrespecting a club legend like that is absolutely not on. Irrespective of whether or not you want Moyes to go, show some respect for what he’s achieved at the club.

@Mattwoodruff_: This club is so fucking toxic at this rates these fans are gonna make it that players and managers won’t want to come here

@ccount5775: “My nan would’ve won that final”. Is that so? In that case, your (presumably late) grandmother would rank as only the *checks notes* third manager to win a major honour with West Ham. “Moyes doesn’t play the West Ham way”. All the more reason to keep him 🤣 Ungrateful dipshits

@ChrisConnor93: Moyes outers are genuinely the fucking worst.

@TayWH5: Can tell Moyes is just so finished with this god awful fanbase – “good opinion” 😂

@morganturnerg: Genuinely disgraceful to arguably our best ever manager, no problem at all if you want him to go but don’t think this is the right thing to do at all.

@_WalkerTom99_: What a prick, have some respect 🥴 some of our fans would have preferred to see Moyes go than win the conference last season. Yes it’s probably time to go but some of our fans are a disgrace

@DaniGood: Don’t agree with this. No matter how desperate most of us want him gone, still need to show respect.

@AlfieJenkinsWHU: We don’t deserve anything nice as a fanbase.

@solokelaty: Whatever your opinions are on giving Moyes a new contract, this is out of order. 3 seasons in Europe and a major trophy win. Give him the respect he deserves.

@Jackcoyi: What a weird thing to do. What could this possibly achieve other than directly abusing a man who has done so much for the club you claim to “support”. Recording yourself for whatever fucking is just as if not stranger.

@jjcrittenden: Many people seem to think that “having an opinion” means that they get to share that opinion in any way they see fit. Yes, you’re entitled to your bad opinion, but you’re not entitled to speak that opinion in any way you like and act like you’re doing nothing wrong.

@44DMP: Fucking prick. I hate our fanbase because wtf is this. The guy has given us the best memories in most of our lifetimes yet this is how you want to speak to him. Embarrassment. Regardless of your opinion on his football, show him the respect he deserves ffs

@WestHam_Central: This is just really, really sad.
