Wayne Bridge pulls out of the upcoming fight with KSI after the social media influencer’s John Terry comment ‘crossed the line’.
Bridge has decided to pull out of his scheduled boxing match against KSI following a provocative and personal jibe made.
During a face-off at an event, KSI made a direct reference to an alleged affair between Bridge’s ex-girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel and former teammate John Terry, which Bridge found to have crossed a personal boundary.
This has led to Wayne Bridge withdrawing from the bout set for the 29th of March in Manchester, expressing the need to protect his family from such personal attacks.
Bridge spoke his love for boxing but stated that the comments made were too personal and affected not only his family but others involved in the situation.
KSI said in a taunt: “Wayne Bridge, aren’t you the guy that let John Terry smash your ex?That is what you are known for.”
Bridge initially said on Saturday night: “I think that’s just him, innit?
“It’s the cameras, what he does, put him in a room on your own he probably doesn’t do it, something could happen.”
KSI wrote on social media: “From playing with him in FIFA Ultimate Team to knocking out Wayne Bridge in the ring at the end of March, what a life.”
A few hour later Bridge, who has an 18-year-old son with Vanessa, revealed the decision to call off the fight – insisting the “deeply personal comments crossed a line”.

Bridge then took to Instagram: “I’m sure a lot of you have seen what happened on Saturday night at the Misfits Boxing event.
“Firstly, I think it’s important that I explain my reason for accepting the fight.
“I always like to challenge myself. This felt like a good opportunity to go up against an interesting opponent on a big stage.
“I have always loved boxing as part of my everyday training routine.
“I was fully prepared to train hard and have some fun.
“Of course, I expected to face some criticism, but I feel like what was said on Saturday crossed a line.
“These are deeply personal comments that affect mine and other families involved in the situation.
“I’m a family man first and my priority is protecting them.
“My opponent is someone that many children look up to around the world, including my kids.
“I hope one day he will look back on this differently. I personally don’t want to be involved in these exchanges.
“I will no longer be fighting on 29th March. I’m still looking out for my next big challenge and have some exciting things coming up in 2025.
“Thanks for all the love. The support has been overwhelming. I want my friends and family to know how special they are. Deep down I know this is the right thing to do.”
Ex-footballer Danny Simpson – who was drawn with Danny Aarons for his Misfits Boxing debut last year – supported Wayne Bridge’s decision, saying: “Disrespecting the ballers. Can’t be having that @KSI @MamsTaylor @MisfitsBoxing.”
Vanessa said: “The smallest minds often come with the biggest mouths.”
The relationship between Bridge and Perroncel deteriorated following accusations of her involvement in an affair with Terry, who was also Bridge’s teammate at that time.
Subsequently, both Terry and Bridge faced taunts from opposing fans regarding the matter, resulting in the dissolution of their friendship.
Perroncel has strongly refuted the claims, which allege that the affair occurred in 2009, and has asserted that she possesses legal documentation to substantiate her innocence.
Twitter users reacted as Wayne Bridge pulls out of a fight with KSI after the influencer’s John Terry comment ‘crossed the line’…
@MattWaite5: KSI honestly fell off doing this and I’m actually really happy Wayne pulled out. Embarrassing fight and an even more embarrassing promo to try kick it off.
@cjluck84: That @KSI fella is a tosser. The end. Grow the fuck up, ya bellend. Yours sincerely, anyone with an ounce of decency 👍🏻
@jamesparker373: This is how bad this MisFits boxing has got. Absolutely embarrassing from @KSI and fair play to bridge pulling out. Guy needs a reality check, just made himself look like a prick
@_ConnorMcMain: Agree, KSI is a moron. What he said wasn’t even slightly funny.
@Harvwba: KSI’s a bellend for this
@_kevlar1: There ain’t no need for that @KSI that’s embarrassing and below the belt. You need to grow up
@bmthcult: Is it me or is KSI really cringe? 😬
@Cpfcdazzler86: Lost all respect for @KSI here, what a dickhead thing to do
@balmer_tim: Good on Wayne Bridge, that other bloke is a classless no mark YouTuber.
@_SchuZ_: No issue with this decision from Wayne Bridge. There’s countless ways to promote a fight that are actually entertaining and don’t involve family, not sure why KSI wanted to go there.
@RealKiwiMamba: Good on Wayne. There are far too many worthless scumbags like KSI out there. Too many dumb fucks who make trash like this famous.
@TomMav24: Big respect to Wayne Bridge for this, KSI just seems like a child
@briwoodCFC: Yeah, there was no need for that
@aukers88: Fair play Wayne Bridge 👏🏻
@jacktruthafc: I don’t blame him that was a disgraceful thing to say publicly. When you have a lot of young people you influence with your success of being famous down to influencing on social media I think that comes with responsibility. I hope he learns from this
@jckjones861: What a wanker ksi has turned into
