Watch all seven goals as non league Wrexham stun with an FA Cup Third Round win to remember at Championship side Coventry City.
It was without doubt one of the biggest wins in the Welsh outfit’s history, knocking out a club who played three tiers above them and quite possibly the most notable and impressive whilst under the relatively new ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
We knew Wrexham would give it as good as they got against the Sky Blues, put no one could have predicted that they would go and put four past them.
Phil Parkinson’s side found themselves 2-0 up at the Coventry Building Society Arena after just 20 minutes, with striker Sam Dalby heading the underdogs in front (12′) and silenced the home supporters.
The away fans were jubilant on the 18th minute as Elliot Lee looked like he was sizing up to cross into the box but the ball goes beyond Coventry goalkeeper Simon Moore and into the back of the net to double Wrexham’s lead.
Coventry did have decent chances in the game too, and got one back on the 36th minute, Coventry manager Mark Robins had just been forced into making a change after Fabio Tavares was taken off due to an ankle injury.
Kasey Palmer sent in a cross that Martyn Waghorn sent into the path of Ben Sheaf, who then drilled the ball first time into the Wrexham net. Sweden forward Viktor Gyökeres came on for Tavares.
The National League club were just too much to handle, Coventry tried to find an equaliser in the tie but with seven minutes added on in the first half, the ball was headed around in the hosts’ box and went on to meet Wrexham midfielder Tom O’Connor who put it into the back of the net in the sixth minute of injury time.
Boos rang out from the home fans as the half-time whistle blew.
As if it couldn’t get any worse for Coventry, they went down to 10 men with over half an hour left to go, Jonathan Panzo getting sent off for a handball inside the penalty area.
The referee points to the spot and Wrexham forward Paul Mullin placed the ball past Simon Moore to send the away end wild.
Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney must be enjoying this display from across the pond, in dreamland like their fans watching this play out.
The goals didn’t stop there however, Coventry still tried to spark some sort of comeback, Viktor Gyökeres with a right footed shot buried into the back of the net. Assisted by Kasey Palmer.
In the 76th minute, it was game on, thanks to a free-kick worthy of the top flight by Coventry midfielder Kasey Palmer which sees his set-piece up and over the wall and left Wrexham goalkeeper Mark Howard with no chance of saving it.

@AdamAnderson864: The refs tried to give the game away. I think they were trying to set a record for most missed penalties.
@nwatts_87: Credit to Wrexham, they took advantage of a side that was just not for it. We all knew it but Jesus we have no depth! Waghorn, Kelly and I hate to say but Dabo not up to scratch. Stop talking to me about Tavares being the answer as well, nowhere near it yet. #PUSB
@_paulmhughes: Great game, and well done Wrexham. The drop off in quality without Vik and Gus is alarming. Waghorn stealing a living as a footballer, and Kelly looked out of his depth. Rose had another stinker. Sheaf and KP our best on the day. At least we’ll be well rested for Burnley…🫣
@rhysweeks2: Awesome. Proper old fashioned FA Cup tie
@PhilBennett58: What a Game !!! Wrexham 4-3 Winners in the next Round Squeaky Bum and Heart stopping the last 15 mins I can take the win all day but my Heart can’t take that any more ❤️⚽️

@dwcskyblue: Fair play to @Wrexham_AFC for their following and result, squeaky bum time for them at the end though. @Coventry_City dominated even with 10 men but to concede 4 against a non-league team unacceptable. Backthree and Moore were crap. Hope Fabio is okay. @BBCCWR
@Gilbers84: Some game lads, great noise and safe journey home! Well played 👏🏻
@CerysKes: Dear god, I love this team. Howard, you beauty

@TheSkyBluesNews: Fair play to Wrexham. Gave a good account of themselves and scored the goals that matter. Same old city, quite predictable at times. Hopefully the take over happens soon and we move forward as a club to the next phase that’s needed. #PUSB #TheSkyBluesNews #skyblues
