FA Cup Third Round sees six upsets and some absolute thrillers on Saturday afternoon

The FA Cup Third Round sees as many as six upsets on Saturday afternoon and boy did we get to see some absolute thrillers play out.

Premier League side AFC Bournemouth went into half time 3-1 down to Burnley, and couldn’t produce any kind of comeback as they fell to a 4-2 defeat to their opponents from the Championship, which they are leaders of.

It took just six minutes to break the deadlock, as Burnley took the lead through Manuel Benson with a right footed shot from the centre of the box to the top right corner. Assisted by Jóhann Gudmundsson with a through ball.

Bournemouth got one back moments later, Ryan Christie (Bournemouth) with a right footed shot effort down the centre of the goal.

In the 39th minute, Burnley made it 2-1. Anass Zaroury (Burnley) netting from very close range to the bottom left corner. Assisted by Josh Brownhill.

Then the 43rd minute saw the Clarets get a third. Anass Zaroury (Burnley) smashed his effort from the left side of the box to the bottom right corner. Assisted by Josh Brownhill.

Minutes into the second half, Bournemouth got their second, needing just one goal to draw level with Burnley. Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth) with a header from very close range.

But Burnley made sure they were going to be the side booking a place into the Fourth Round. Manuel Benson (Burnley) left footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner. Assisted by Ashley Barnes with a through ball.

Fleetwood Town of League One knocked out Championship side Queens Park Rangers with a 2-1 win.

The away side went ahead on 37 minutes. Sam Field (QPR) with left footed shot from very close range to the centre of the goal. Assisted by Lyndon Dykes following a set piece situation.

Fleetwood got one back as Nsiala was left unmarked at the back post from a corner and he calmly nodded home from close range!

Then in the 66th minute, a stunning finish from Omochere as he took control of the ball on the half turn and rifled it straight past Dieng to put the Cod Army into the lead.

Blackpool finally had something to cheer about, a 4-1 win against Premier League side Nottingham Forest and a place in the FA Cup Fourth Round.

The Seasiders went in front 17 minutes in. A scramble in the box results in the ball breaking to Marvin Ekpiteta and the defender slotting in.

Blackpool increased their advantage through Ian Poveda with less than 30 minutes left on the clock, scoring his first goal in tangerine. The attacking midfielder is assisted by Jerry Yates who pounced on a loose defensive pass to tee him up.

Shortly after that, CJ Hamilton let fly a powerful strike into the bottom far corner, before a corner delivery drops for Jerry Yates who smashed in off the underside of the bar to make it 4-0. Producing quite some upset to leave Steve Cooper, his players the the bumper away end rather unhappy.

Ryan Yates got a consolation goal for Forest, making the final score 4-1 to the hosts.

Ipswich Town of League One won 4-1 against Championship side Rotherham United.

Superb work from Jackson to win the ball back for Town as they went 1-0 up on 43 minutes. He plays a one-two with Ladapo before finding Humphreys on the edge of the area, and he produces a lovely first-time finish into the bottom corner!

Conor Washington converts from the penalty spot just after the break to make it 1-1, then Chaplin with a firm strike into the bottom corner to restore Town’s lead on 73 minutes.

Shortly after, the hosts went ahead again, Edwards won a challenge and the ball fell kindly to Ladapo. He surged forward, took the ball past Viktor Johansson and slotted it in from the edge of the box. 3-1.

Another penalty as the game was coming to an end, Burns straight down the middle to make it 4-1.

We nearly saw a huge shock win for Chesterfield of the National League, who played out a fantastic encounter, drawing 3-3 against West Brom, a team who sit 66 places higher, in the Championship.

It was just two minutes in when the Baggies went ahead. Brandon Thomas-Asante (West Brom) with a left footed shot from the centre of the box to the top left corner. Assisted by Karlan Grant with a cross.

Chesterfield fought back straight after and got an equaliser with seven minutes on the clock. Tyrone Williams (Chesterfield) with a right footed shot from very close range. Assisted by Jamie Grimes with a headed pass following a corner.

The West Midlands outfit were back in front on the 17th minute. Karlan Grant (West Bromwich Albion) using his right footed to smack the ball in. Assisted by Tomas Rogic with a through ball.

You have to praise Chesterfield however, they continued at it and deservedly made it 2-2 as King crosses into the area and finds Dobra free on the penalty spot, whose first time effort is directed into the top corner!

The 41st minute and Quigley is slipped through on goal, his effort is saved by Button but the rebound falls to Dobra, who takes one touch before firing an effort into the roof of the net! 3-2 Chesterfield. Scenes.

The non league side came so close to a surprise victory, but right at the death, West Brom snatched a draw. Brandon Thomas-Asante (West Bromwich Albion) with a header from the centre of the box to take the game to a replay. A brilliant effort for the hosts it had to be said.
