Flashback to the viral video of John Bishop’s brother’s painful but hilarious incident during the Chester v Stoke friendly.
This clip just keeps on resurfacing on social media, and it’s truly a brilliant watch, getting thousands of views every time.
Back in the summer of July 1995, Bishop, who was then a midfielder for Chester City, ended up getting hurt, having attempted to head the ball back from the stand before tumbling down several rows and having to limp away from the side of the pitch.
He was also involved in an unusual incident for the 1995/96 season, when out injured during Chester’s home win over Hereford United, he got a hold of the PA microphone to criticise the referee who had turned down a Chester penalty appeal.
Jeremy Vine came across the viral clip of Eddie Bishop’s attempted header, tweeting via his official Twitter account: “Only just realised that Eddie Bishop — who famously fell down the stairs during Chester’s pre-season friendly against Stoke 25 years ago — is the elder brother of comedy legend @JohnBishop100 (via @chesterOTD).”
John Bishop then replied: “That’s right @theJeremyVine. 😂 Eddie was a Chester player at the time and was out injured but couldn’t resist heading the ball as it went out. The fall put him out for a further two weeks! The manager @KevRatcliffe4 was not happy! So you and I both have comedians as brothers 😂”
Fast forward to today and as per Stoke Sentinel, Eddie’s now working an artist, specialising in iron sculpture.
It’s 1995 and a wayward Stoke clearance heads towards injured Chester midfielder Eddie Bishop…

I didn’t realise it was John Bishop’s brother and Chester record signing Eddie Bishop, who was supposed to be recovering from injury at the time. https://t.co/hQoBcur3vi
