VIDEO: Tim Sherwood left embarrassed by Roberto Firmino and Leeds live on TV

Tim Sherwood was left embarrassed by Roberto Firmino and Leeds live on TV on Wednesday night by scoring the winner against Tottenham.

The 29 year old Brazilian left the former footballer turned pundit red-faced as the striker found the net to send Liverpool top of the Premier League table.

Sherwood said he was “not too worried” as Andy Robertson lined up a corner in the 90th minute of Wednesday’s clash at Anfield.

The former Spurs star said: “I’m not sure anybody can get their head on the first ball for Liverpool” – and at that moment Firmino planted his head on it to fire home the winner.

As Robertson swung in the last-gasp set-piece, the ex-England midfielder said: “I’m not too worried about this corner – it might come back to bite me.

“I think Tottenham have the dominance in the air. I’m not sure anybody can get their head on the first ball for Liverpool…”

As Firmino rose above the Tottenham defence to head his side to victory, Sherwood then said: “Apart from that man there.”

“Oh my goodness! Wow! What a header!” he went on to say amid the sound of laughter from his colleagues in the studio.

The dramatic finale came just as Spurs looked to have secured a point at Anfield, with Heung-Min Son’s strike on the counter cancelling out Mohamed Salah’s deflected opener in the first half.

Man of the Match: Roberto Firmino.

His badly timed prediction sent Twitter into meltdown, with one Liverpool fan saying: “Bloody love this – Tim Sherwood getting it wonderfully wrong live on tv.”

Another said: “Help I’ve watched it on loop for a few minutes, cant stop, and I’m still laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes.”

“Tim sherwood went full Steve mclaren … never go full mclaren Tim”, wrote another, referencing McClaren’s reaction to England’s Euro 2016 exit to Iceland where he described their reaction as ‘perfect’ right before Kolbeinn Sigthorsson put Iceland 2-1 up.

Another supporter joked: “If Liverpool win the league then Tim Sherwood should get a medal for this absolute jinx he’s pulled on Tottenham!”

He also criticised Leeds before their 5-2 win against Newcastle, don’t Sherwood look stupid now!

It also reminded us of Gabby Agbonlahor’s fate-tempting analysis just before West Ham’s opener a few weeks back.

The former footballer was brought in by Sky Sports News to report on the game, which saw the Hammers go up to fifth in the Premier League table with a 2-1 win.

However when the first West Ham goal went in thanks to Angelo Ogbonna after just two minutes, viewers were left howling with laughter and took to mock Gabby Agbonlahor for bigging up Villa, only to be cut short so that he could report on the goal.

Back to Liverpool’s win against Tottenham now, here’s what the managers said post-match…

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: “To play a game like this tonight is absolutely exceptional. It was a top game and we deserved three points against a top side who, organisation-wise were very difficult to play against with the counter-attacking threat they have. I liked the game a lot. I’ve got no problem scoring late if it is needed. We really deserved the three points.

“Of course Tottenham had chances, they scored a goal with an unbelievably tight offside decision – we are really not lucky with these decisions at the moment. They had other chances – you cannot defend Kane, Son, Bergwijn for 90 minutes, the speed they have is incredible.

“But around those moments we were completely in charge of the game, stayed concentrated and protected our attacks sensationally well, counter press was good, passing was good. Not all of our efforts led to a goal or a proper chance because they were deep in the box and defended all of the high balls.

“We needed to be creative and the boys were creative, stayed creative and then forced it. The first goal we forced a little bit and the second with the set piece is really nice because we don’t have a lot of time to work on things and that worked out again.”

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho: “I think even a draw would have left us not with the best taste because we had them there to win it. It was not just about the big chances, it was the moment of the big chances. The moment was when they were in trouble, in their worst moment, and we had it there to kill it and we missed it.

“Normally, in matches of this level, you pay [for] it. I thought we were going to pay [for] it by just taking a point, but in the end, we did not even take a point so it is very disappointing.

“Looking to the performance, I am happy with the team. I am happy with our proposal, the proposal of going to every match to win it. Sometimes you cannot do it. Sometimes you cannot play better than you did because of the opponent. Today, I really think, in such a difficult game against such a good team, the boys were very good and we are punished.”

Fans reacted after seeing Tim Sherwood left embarrassed by Roberto Firmino along with Leeds live on TV…

@bernardooooV3: Tim Sherwood has had an absolute mare

@garymcgurk: Is idominancy a word

@clarkmachine: Saw that. What a joker!!!

@pauliegtweets: To be fair, everything we put into the box for the rest of the game was easily dealt with by their CBs. What’s impressive is how much we score off set pieces given our height disadvantage.

@TylerGFive: Bobby showing Harry how to head the ball. Get in.

@ShaunMcGann: I have never played pro football. I have never been in a TV studio. I have no media experience. BUT I have had no income for nearly 9 months because I am im hospitality supply chain. So I will happily stand in for Sènor Sherwood this weekend for £30 & lunch , then taxi home.

Jason Lee: Tim Sherwood left embarrassed by Roberto Firmino and Leeds live on TV is the best thing I’ve seen since Gabby’s mess up on Sky
