VIDEO: Streaker runs length of pitch and does cartwheels at Oldham v Salford

A streaker, it’s been a while since we saw one of them at a football match, runs the length of a pitch and does cartwheels during Oldham Athletic‘s match against Salford City on Sunday afternoon.

The moment, which got plenty of laughs from the supporters inside Boundary Park, came in the second half, after the Latics’ Filipe Morais missed his penalty.

It’s fair to say it took a good while for stewards and security to catch him and get him off the pitch, as he had time to do some acrobatics before eventually making his way off the pitch.

The game itself saw Salford produce a comfortable 4-1 win over their local rivals.

The Ammies found themselves 2-0 up after just 16 minutes, Jake Jervis provided a lovely finish, slotting into the far post after coming in off the left wing, then the second saw a ball over the top to play Brandon Thomas-Asante in, and hit a low finish into the far post again.

Jervis got his second and Salford’s third of the game on the 36th minute, he received an inviting cross to the far post from Craig Conway to then head home from close range.

It took just three minutes into the second half for Oldham to concede their fourth goal. Thomas-Asante tapped in after being on the end of a great cross from Ibou Touray.

The hosts grabbed a consolation five minutes later when Desire Segbe Azankpo also scored with a header following a cross from Zak Mills.

The result leaves Oldham sitting 18th in the League Two table, with 26 points (9 ahead of the drop) from 23 games. Salford are placed 11th with 32 points from 24 matches.

After watching a video of the streaker running the length of pitch at Oldham v Salford, fans gave their reaction, some thought it was brave considering the cold weather, others thought the security slacked – see those tweets on the next page.

It’s pointless chashing the streaker on the pitch, all that it does is make the stewards look silly chasing him, he as to come off the pitch at some point, then the Stewards can deal with him.
It is not the securities fault that there was a streaker, he didn’t turn up naked, maybe he should have been notified earlier undressing, but that depends on what is happening in the ground.
One problem is the use of private security Stewarts, rather than professional OAFC trained stewards.
