Footage has emerged appearing to show Maidstone United’s George Elokobi jump into a crowd to confront a fan at a non league game.
The incident came after in a National League South match, Maidstone conceded a last-minute equaliser to Elokobi’s former club Braintree to draw 1-1.
Elokobi is said to have confronted the supporter because of a comment made about his wage, Braintree fans on social media were quick to deny that there were any allegations of racist abuse.
I just wanna clarify that there were NO monkey chants. The fan made a comment about his wage and that was it. Me and many other witnesses will testify to that should any of these claims be taken further.

A fan can be heard saying: “Don’t lose your head, George, you’re better than that.”

Sorry for the rubbish footage but Maidstone’s George Elokobi has just jumped in the stands after the game and gone for a Braintree fan. Everyone’s rushed over to break it all up, absolute scenes. He came out for the warm up claiming “This is my town!”

Iffy Allen broke the deadline 30 minutes into the first half, however Maidstone played the last 25 minutes with 10 men after Ross Marshall was sent off for the second time in three games (first one was rescinded).
A last gasp header at the back post from Josh Urquhart in the 94th minute meant Braintree came away with a point, before tensions ended up boiling over as mentioned above.
The result meant Maidstone United sit 7th in the National League South table with Braintree two places below them in 9th.
