VIDEO: Doncaster fans invade pitch to celebrate disallowed goal in 96th minute vs Charlton

Doncaster Rovers fans this afternoon invaded the pitch as they celebrated a 96th minute goal against Charlton Athletic that was eventually disallowed.

A dramatic final 20 minutes started with Rovers’ John Marquis scored in the wrong goal to give the Addicks the lead, however it was cancelled out minutes later when Mallik Wilks found the bottom corner.

Marquis, who already had a goal disallowed in the first half, had yet another cancelled out in the sixth minute of stoppage time with the referee controversially deeming it offside.

Amusingly though, whilst running towards the fans celebrating the goal, a few fans legged it onto the pitch to join in, however quickly made their way off it shortly after.

The scenes also got mentions from the clubs’ Twitter accounts…

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer, who yesterday was handed a three-match touchline ban by the FA following an incident with a referee during his side’s 2-1 win at AFC Wimbledon last month, said as quoted by London News Online: “It’s look like one of their fellas who was in and around the six-yard box gambles on the shot,” said Bowyer.

“It looks like he got a little flick on it as he runs away celebrating and he’s in an offside position. I have to say I thought the ref was very good today. He was a good one.

Charlton fans took to social media to mock the Donny fans legging it onto the pitch for the disallowed goal, Doncaster fans however felt angry with many criticising the linesman who ruled it out – check out what they had to say on the next page.
