VIDEO: Birmingham fan in wrong stand gets punched by group of Bristol City supporters

A Birmingham City fan in the wrong stand gets punched by group of Bristol City supporters and boy did the Blues fan regret celebrating.

Birmingham managed to pick up their first away win since October 2021 after closing out a 2-1 Championship win at Ashton Gate.

And while those in the away end celebrated jubilantly, so did one supporter of the West Midlands outfit in the one of the stands housed with home fans as you can see in the video below.

Early goals from Tahith Chong and Nico Gordon set the away side on their way to a victory over Bristol City.

Birmingham were in front inside two minutes, thanks to Chong breaking into the area on the left and turning to hit a low right-footed shot past Dan Bentley.

They were two up after 13 minutes as the Ipswich defence were caught out by Jordan Graham’s corner from the left and Gordon was on hand to head home from 12 yards.

Bristol City got one back three minutes after the break when Alex Scott got on the end of a Jay Dasilva left-wing cross from the edge of the six-yard box.

However, despite improving after the break, the home side could have no complaints with the result after a disappointing performance.

What the managers said…

Bristol City’s Nigel Pearson: “I am fed up with saying the same things each week. Some of the current players lack personal drive, which is a concern. I know where we need to strengthen in the summer. People always think the players out of the side are the answer.

“We have a lot of good youngsters, but they are learning the game. Why some players freeze as they did today, I can’t tell you, but we are continually having to waste substitutions because individuals aren’t at it. There needs to be changes to the squad, no doubt about that, but I will only make them if they are going to significantly improve what we have got. It’s clear that we need to bring in players. Whether we are able to is another thing.”

Birmingham’s Lee Bowyer: “It just shows what sort of season we might have had without all the injuries. We are a good side, but we have not been able to show it often enough because of all the team changes. That drives me crazy. Tahith has been out for four-and-half months. He was our most creative player before his injury and today, despite being rusty, he has scored and played well.

“Marc Roberts has also missed a lot of games and he was huge for us defending balls into our box. Lyle Taylor made a difference, returning up front, and Nico Gordon, who has also had fitness problems, got himself a goal.”

Twitter users reacted as a Birmingham fan in the wrong stand gets punched by a group of Bristol City supporters…

@marksporter: Embarrassing 10 on to 1

@CN54392053: What tends to happen when you’re in the wrong end at the football

@barbs_paul: No regret – he doesn’t look bothered! Proper Blues.

@S_Q_U_E_L_C_H: Rule number one – if in the wrong end keep quiet. End of.

@alfie23130722: Up the fucking reds good lads who got involved in that fuck having away fans in the home end got what he deserved

@ClaytonLaird: Tossers

@jamiex23: Not even the worst thing to happen to him that day! He had to go back home to Birmingham after 😂

@jamietalbot77: Tough fellas they are, 10 on 1 . Must be proud they got a result. Muppets

@Newbigginlad: I dont care if he celebrated, no need for this at all, ive spent plenty of games in the home end as an away fan, you can’t help celebrating your team scoring, these so called fans giving him a slap are morons

@CS_UTV: Awful take. Deserve it if they celebrate tbh.

@properjob57: Utterly pathetic

@daveyboy390: Brave lot, City wont get any respect from this, pathetic and I’m a Villa fan

@markstanley377: Ya play with feathers, ya get your arse tickled

@bchawaythelads: Just walk him out. He is just watching his team ffs. Probably couldn’t get away tickets. Absolute cunts.

@blades2405: On his own you arseholes.

@Charlanardo: Nice of that kid to pile on, bet he’s all over his group chats with his story and how he decked the guy

@bcfc_beth: If you’re gonna sit in the wrong end at least stay quiet… At the Cardiff game a few weeks ago I was sat in front of 3 Cardiff fans in the Dolman, they kept quiet and didn’t bother anyone and just wanted to watch the game… But if you’re gonna be a dick what else do you expect?

@Chrissy___Hall: About the only highlight of the first half was witnessing this from the Upper Lansdown

@socialmediajon1:
I get the anger
If your going to get tickets for the home end you risk this
But still, embarrassing scenes from Ashton Gate again giving our club a bad name by a few
#BristolCity

@cameronnphippss: Fucking into him 🔴⚪️

@LTFC_Dave: Wonderful proactive stewarding I see 👀😂
