An update emerges on the Sunderland fan taken ill with the game against Burton Albion stopped for 50 minutes on Tuesday night.
A medical emergency in the stands at the Stadium of Light leading to a suspension of play with referee Robert Lewis halting proceedings in the fourth minute on Tuesday night with a supporter in the West Stand requiring assistance.
The players remained on the pitch for around 10 minutes before being returning to the dressing rooms while treatment was ongoing.
There is a break in play due to a medical emergency in the stand.

An announcement inside the Stadium of Light was made via the scoreboard, with fans informed that the ‘temporary suspension’ came as a result of a medical emergency and that play was expected to restart shortly.
Sunderland also shared an update on social media, posting: “There is a break in play due to a medical emergency in the stand.
The club has since added: “Fans are advised that play will resume following a ten-minute warm-up.
“We continue to send our best wishes to the supporter involved and thank you all for your cooperation and support.”
The game didn’t restart until 8:45pm following a 52-minute break with the scoreline at 0-0 at the time of suspension.
Keith Downie wrote via his Twitter: “A supporter been receiving emergency treatment in front of me in the main stand at Sunderland for over half an hour now. Play has been paused since around the 5th minute, with the players inside. Praying the supporter is going to be okay
“Supporter taken to hospital receiving oxygen after 40 mins of emergency treatment in the stand. Play resuming in 5 mins”
Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: “I hope that he [the supporter] recovers really well.
“Our thoughts are with him and his family.
“At that moment, I’d have rather we postponed the game and come back another day, than wait this long.
“The person is more important than the game.
“I know there are regulations but the person and their fan is the most important thing.
“Once again we would like to send our love and support to them.”
Sunderland head coach Alex Neil said: “Our thoughts are with the lad and his family.
“There’s nothing worse than when something to happens one of your own, and you feel helpless.
“I don’t know what the outcome of it is but our thoughts are with him and his family.”
A statement from Northumbria Police, issued on Wednesday, February 23, said: “Police officers were in attendance at the Sunderland v Burton Albion match yesterday (Tuesday) when a man in the stands collapsed.
“At around 7.50pm, paramedics attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
“Police have been stood down from this incident and we wish the man a full recovery in the hands of medical professionals.”
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added in a separate statement on Wednesday: “Our event cover team supporting Sunderland’s match were alerted to a medical emergency in the crowd at 7:49pm.
“Four paramedics were on scene within 30 seconds alongside the crowd doctor, St John Ambulance colleagues and an off-duty paramedic who also stopped to help.
“The patient was transported to hospital for further treatment.”
When it was announced over the public address system that there was a medical emergency, fans applauded to show their support.
Part of the stand had to be cleared to enable the emergency services to access the patient to transfer them to hospital.
