UEFA charge PSV Eindhoven after reports and footage sees the away fans rip out seats and aim flares at Arsenal supporters on Thursday night.
The Dutch outfit’s support caused chaos after their defeat to the Gunners, with Granit Xhaka hitting home to get the only goal of the game for the Europa League clash.
The win was Arsenal’s eighth on the spin in all competitions, and secures a top-two finish in the group and can now confirm top place with another three points out in Eindhoven next week.
Following the final whistle, the packed out away end was the sight for several disturbances with new videos emerging, showing one fan throwing a flare towards the home sections, fortunately missing the Arsenal fans.
Several were also seen ripping out seats, with riot police forced to intervene and UEFA have now launched an investigation. The charges in particular relate to throwing of objects, lighting of fireworks, acts of damage and crowd disturbances.
“One man was arrested on suspicion of throwing a flare within a stadium following disorder involving PSV fans during their game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday, 20 October,” read a statement from the Metropolitan Police.
“A second man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. They both remain in custody.
“Officers from the Met’s Football Policing Unit are carrying out enquiries to identify whether any other offences were committed.”

“We are qualified, so that’s the first step. Really pleased to do that,” Arteta said on the game itself.
“Now we want to achieve the second one, which is to finish first in the group. Because we know the difference that’s going to make in terms of the games you’re going to play and against who. That’s still something we had to do in general.
“We are really pleased with the performance and with what the boys showed. We had some really dominant and good moments, but we lacked in the final third and the final action to put more shots on target and to score more goals, I think.”
Asked if he was concerned about burnout for the Gunner star, Arteta added: “Look at the top players in the world. They play 70 matches every three days and make the difference and win the game.
“You want to be at the top, you have to be able to do that. And if we start to put something different in the mind of a young player, I think we are making a huge mistake because then [he would] be like, ‘no, I don’t play now, on astro-turf I don’t play’. I don’t want that. I want them to be ruthless every three days.”

Just looking out into a now long deserted away end here at Arsenal. You can see a few missing seats. I think PSV should foot the bill after some of their fans ripped their seats up to throw at home supporters at the final whistle pic.twitter.com/GFJuK8ebLf

Bit of aggro between fans after the full-time whistle. Few objects being thrown. PSV fans launching a few seats at the Arsenal fans. Police trying to calm things down. pic.twitter.com/xR3PlJyByC
