Check out the transfer talk for the Football League…

• Aston Villa have increased their bid for Bournemouth‘s Callum Wilson to £21m, but the striker prefers a move to Newcastle, who have made a £20m bid. (Sky Sports)

• Bristol City are on the brink of signing Fulham defender Alfie Mawson on a season-long loan deal, according to Football Insider. Mawson looks to be on his way to Ashton Gate, and the Robins will pay his £25,000-a-week contract in full.

• Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Liverpool duo Nat Phillips and Sheyi Ojo this summer, according to a report on Goal.

• Swansea City boss Steve Cooper has denied claims that the Swans have received a bid from Leeds United for Ben Cabango this summer.

• Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lining up a £13m offer for Watford attacker Will Hughes. The 25-year-old has been with Watford since July 2017, making 87 appearances for the Hornets in all competitions, contributing six goals and 10 assists in the process.

• Nottingham Forest have been in contact with Paris Saint-Germain about a move for defender Loïc Mbe Soh. Le Parisien report that the youngster is set to leave the club after failing to reach an agreement about a long-term extension to his current deal. (Sport Witness)

• Former Cardiff City star Kenneth Zohore’s wages could provide a stumbling block to any reunion with former boss Neil Warnock at Middlesbrough. Warnock remains tight lipped, stated he’s a good player, but if what he said is anything to go by, it’s admitting that a transfer is unlikely.

• Reading forward Marc McNulty has been linked with a move to League One side Gillingham according to Berkshire Live’s Jonathan Low.

• Watford are in talks over a move for former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sam Hutchinson. The versatile 31-year-old is a free agent after his contract ran out at Hillsborough at the end of last season.

• According to Sun on Sunday journalist Alan Nixon, Kenny Jackett wants to add Accrington Stanley right-back Callum Johnson to his squad ahead of the Blues’ renewed League One promotion push.

• Phil Parkinson has confirmed Sunderland’s interest in 21 year old Argentinian striker Mateo Bajamich, a £500,000 bid has been made to Instituto Cordoba – but has hinted that does not mean Danny Graham’s return to Wearside is off.

• Egypt international Sam Morsy has been left out of Wigan Athletic’s squad for their EFL Cup clash against Fleetwood Town amid reports of an imminent move. Middlesbrough, Stoke, Sheffield Wednesday, Crystal Palace and Brighton were also linked.

• Southend United manager Mark Molesley is keen for Stephen Humphrys to stay with the Shrimpers. Rochdale had a bid for the 22-year-old turned down last week and the forward is also believed to be keen to quit the Shrimpers.

• WYCOMBE. Want keeper Stockdale to commit ASAP despite signing Curtis Anderson. (Alan Nixon)

• NEWCASTLE. Wilson might have to take a small pay cut to sign. BOURNEMOUTH wages still high, no relegation clause. VILLA still in chase but Toon trying hard. Holding should get done on loan. (Alan Nixon)

• FULHAM. Joined the Harry Wilson race. LIVERPOOL still want too much for him (20 or so). Could happen if drops. Fits their bill. Talented, domestic experience.

• Sheffield United are close to signing West Brom’s Oliver Burke and Derby duo Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe. The Burke swap deal will include Callum Robinson returning to The Baggies.

• VILLA. Face genuine competition from SPURS for Ollie Watkins. BRENTFORD sell to best bidder. Player goes to best club for him.

• BARROW. Looking to do a deal for keeper Josh Lillis. Poss coaching job in there too.

• BIRMINGHAM. Hope VILLA will help them to do the Scott Hogan deal. Make an offer that works and also helps striker leave.
