• Preston striker David Nugent has been excluded from the rest of the squad and told to stay at home, while the bosses at Deepdale try to find him a new club to join. The 35-year-old still has one year left of his two-year contract, but Preston don’t see him as part of their plans going forward, and want to clear him from the wage bill.

• Yaya Sanogo’s move to Middlesbrough has fallen through due to fitness concerns. The former Arsenal striker was in Middlesbrough for a medical after agreeing terms.

• According to Aksam, Galatasaray have given up the chase to sign Lech Poznan winger Kamil Jozwiak with the Pole set to join Championship side Derby County.

• Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour, has urged Jack Wilshere to move into the Championship with Bournemouth after reports emerged he could be set to leave West Ham.

• Aston Villa have been handed a potential transfer boost, with The Telegraph claiming that Bournemouth are now willing to sell Josh King for the right price.

• Sheffield Wednesday’s hopes of bringing Jacob Murphy back to the club look to have improved, with Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce admitting the winger could well leave on another loan spell this season. (The Star)

• 27 year old playmaker Daniel Johnson wants to quit Preston North End to join Rangers before the transfer cut-off next month, Football Insider understands. Talks of a £2m bid is played down.

• Tottenham are unlikely to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik in the current transfer window, according to Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio, but the club are monitoring Watford captain Troy Deeney.

• Nottingham Forest see first bid for 23 year old LB Châteauroux defender Christopher Opéri rejected – Did not meet club’s ‘financial expectations’

• Watford sporting director Cristiano Giaretta has revealed that Napoli and Sevilla are among a host of clubs interested in signing Gerard Deulofeu.

• Luton boss Nathan Jones has confirmed his interest in Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as reported by Luton Today. Jones was asked about the 22-year-old ahead of their opening game of the season against Barnsley and said: “He’s been on my radar for a long time Kiernan, I know him very well and I’ve watched him 10 times. “I really, really like him, I think he’s an excellent midfielder, but he’s a Leicester player so it would be wrong for me to comment on him. “But I do know him very, very well, I watched him for Leicester, watched him for Blackpool and he’s a player I do think has a fantastic future.”

• Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall says he would like to add a couple of signings to his squad as they begin their Championship campaign.

• Ipswich boss Paul Lambert said Cherries had a bid turned down for striker Kayden Jackson – claiming it did not meet the valuation of owner Marcus Evans.

• Turkish giants Besiktas are among the clubs interested in a move for AFC Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter according to The Sun.

• Sunderland manager Phil Parkinson has responded to an interview from Aiden McGeady discussing his future with the Black Cats, stating he wants to see him move on.

• Sunderland look set to miss out on Mateo Bajamich – with MLS side Houston Dynamo now favourites to land the Argentine striker. Parkinson has confirmed his interest in the 21-year-old, and the Black Cats are understood to have made a bid of around £500,000 for the Instituto Cordoba man.

• Wigan Athletic are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign defender Danny Fox according to journalist Alan Nixon.

• Portsmouth would favour sending prospect Haji Mnoga out on a non-league youth loan in a bid to aid his development – but Football League experience have not been ruled out.
