This evening saw the first team to advance through to the Championship Playoff Final confirmed as Aston Villa came out victorious against West Brom on penalties.
The first leg at Villa Park on Saturday ended 2-1 for Dean Smith’s men, so their opposition had work if they wanted to secure a place at Wembley.
The second leg started a feisty one and it continued throughout the game as Albion captain Chris Brunt was sent off for two yellow cards following a long-running scuffle with John McGinn.
This was the second game in a row that they had had a player sent off just like Forest Green over two legs.
Red card for Brunt ?

James Shan’s side continued to stay strong at the beginning of the second half, but couldn’t find that all important second goal with Villa constantly coming forward towards the end.
There was no away goals rule for the EFL playoffs, so the game had to be settled by extra-time or penalties.
Villa looked more likely to score in the first part of extra time when they had the better possession though were still kept at bay by the Baggies so only penalties could sort this tie out.
