Sunderland’s Dan Ballard goes viral after celebrating in front of West Brom fans during the 1-0 win over the Baggies on Saturday afternoon.
Video footage surfaced on social media, showing the Black Cats defender Dan Ballard celebrating Pierre Ekwah’s goal.
It came after Ballard was on the end of some overly forceful tackles from Sunderland’s opponents – which led to Baggies player Brandon Thomas-Asante being dismissal in the first half.

Ballard faced criticism from West Brom players and fans because of an incident which took place in the reverse Championship fixture back in December which saw Sunderland win 2-1.
Ballard left the former Black Cats academy product Josh Maja hurt, with Ballard being booked and Maja forced off due to injury in what was his first return to Wearside in almost four years.
He suffered an ankle injury, which kept him sidelined until his appeared in West Brom win over Rotherham last week.
Ballard had the last laugh by silencing the West Brom fans, and then at full time, fist pumped and shouted towards the sold-out away end.
He said when speaking post-match, per Chronicle Live: “I was getting a little bit of stick today so it added to the win, it felt good.”
“It was another sell-out there, the fans were brilliant and helped us through it again, so thank you to them. It doesn’t seem like there is much to play for now, and it is another sell-out. It amazes me, it amazes the players and that is one of the real motivations to have a strong end to the season because no matter where we go, it’s sold-out, so we can’t thank them enough, the support is unbelievable.”
On the performance and clean sheet, he added: “It probably wasn’t our best performance as a team, but we’ve been a lot better defensively recently, obviously that’s five clean sheets in six games now so as a defender I am pleased with that.”
“But as a team, we probably didn’t play as well as we would’ve liked to – but I’d rather do that and come away with the three points, it was a tough game but good to get three points.”

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan was critical of Ballard after the game. “For me, it was unfair that in the first game, they injured Maja.
“It was a terrible action. It was unbelievable.
“The player who scored that day injured a player and the referee didn’t send him off or give him a yellow card.
“It was ridiculous – not just because it was against us, I am talking about football.
“If somebody today breaks their limits with two actions, they’re two yellow cards. When you have a yellow card, you must control yourself.
“If something makes an unbelievably dangerous action, and Maja has been out of the game for four months…
“I don’t know if these things are in the subconscious of the players, but I can tell you that we should’ve managed that situation better.”
Sunderland’s Mike Dodds: “When you have a group like ours, and the opposition fans want to give some stick, they’ll stick up for each other. It brings the group closer together, but Dan is a big boy. He’s an international, he’s a Premier League player in waiting for me. He can take it.
“I was a bit surprised. I am always respectful to the fans, but the first boo did take me by surprise.
“He’s a great kid, Dan. West Brom fans target him, that’s fine, it’s a part of the game. Dan showed today he can handle that side of the game, but I didn’t need today as confirmation.”
