Sunderland’s 24/25 away kit was sold out in just minutes online as fans took to queue at the club shop since 11pm the night before.

There is a huge demand for the shirt, produced by Hummel, just like we saw for the home strip, leading to long queues at the club shop and quick online sales.

The shirt was available for purchase both in-store and online from 8am, but some sizes sold out within the first minute or two.

Fans expressed a mix of excitement at managing to get their hands on it, while those who missed out were frustrated over the limited availability online.

CLUB STATEMENT:

The remarkable demand for Sunderland AFC’s 2024-25 hummel matchday collections continued this week.

Following the release of our new away shirt on Friday, almost 25,000 shirts have been snapped up by the red and white army this summer.

Online, our iconic ’92 throwback sold out within 11 minutes and earlier this week, a limited restock of our 2024-25 home shirt sold out within 12 minutes, as thousands of fans descended on safcstore.com.

Limited away shirts are still on sale in-store, with women’s and junior sizes also available online.

Home shirt sales have now exceeded the total number sold throughout the entirety of last season and although some fans have missed out, restocks are on the way.

An additional limited drop of our 2024-25 home shirt will arrive from 8am on Wednesday 31 July, with further drops planned throughout the campaign, and our away shirt will be restocked in August.

Chief Business Officer David Bruce said: “Our support continues to know no limits and we are thrilled by the reception of our 2024-25 matchday collections.

“Fanatics and hummel are working incredibly hard to continue to deliver for our supporters and although some fans have missed out for the time being, our up-front planning will ensure that all shirts will be back in stock very soon.

“We will meet what has been an unprecedented demand and we appreciate fans’ patience throughout the interim period.”

Carly Purkis, Senior eCommerce & Partnership Manager (Football) at Fanatics, said: “Fan belief on Wearside ahead of the new season is incredible to see, with the new away kits already flying off the shelves, both in-store and online, following record-breaking demand for the home kit over the past few weeks.

“We would like to thank Sunderland fans for their fantastic support, and rest assured we are continuing to work tirelessly behind the scenes with both the Club and hummel to ensure that more home and away kits will be available for fans as soon as possible.”
