Sunderland wow fans by bringing back a retro away kit and crest ahead of the 2024/25 season with fans calling it sensational.
The Black Cats unveiled their new away strip, designed by Hummel, and it’s gone on to receive widespread acclaim from fans and journalists with it expected to sell out quick.
The kit features a classic design with the Championship outfit’s old badge, evoking nostalgia among supporters which will only increase sales, while some have urged Sunderland to permanently change back to the treasured ship crest.

There ainât no stopping Sunderland AFC and hummel, who today revealed the Clubâs iconic 2024-25 away matchday collection.
Restored to pride of place for the first time since 1997, the Clubâs treasured ship crest returns in all its glory as heritage and innovation come together to create a striking harmony.
The renowned green, navy, and white colourway is inspired by our unforgettable 1991-94 hummel away shirt, which was worn in the 1992 FA Cup Final under the shadow of Wembley Stadiumâs legendary towers.
Available in-store and online from 8am on Friday 26 July, the fully bespoke collection also includes an away anthem jacket, warm-up tee, pre-match quarter-zip, and an additional colourway of our 2024-25 goalkeeper kit.
The shirt also includes several other subtle bespoke touches, as âHaâwayâ graces the inside of the shirtâs neck, and our current crest is placed on the back of the shirt below the collar.

After dropping an instant red and white classic last month with the release of a dazzling home matchday collection, hummel and SAFC will be stealing the show at home and on the road in the new campaign.
Manufactured using eight recycled bottles, the kit utilises hummelâs ECO8 technology, which allows our teams to perform at their best from the first minute until the last.
Our Principal Partner, Spreadex, continue to feature on the front-of-shirt, with Utilita Energy taking centre stage on all infant and junior kits.
Newly announced as the Clubâs Data Partner, Seriös Group will feature on the left-arm sleeve of the shirt, which is set to be worn for the first time when the Lads face Nottingham Forest at the Pinatar Arena on Friday evening.
Like our 2024-25 home shirt, SAFC Womenâs dedicated supporters will be able to follow in the footsteps of their team, with shirts that include the Lassesâ front-of-shirt partner and Barclays Womenâs Championship sleeve patches set to be available from September.

In addition to shopping online, fans can visit our new stadium store seven days per week, with extended summer opening hours currently in operation:
Monday to Friday: 8am – 8pm
Saturday: 9am – 6pm
Sunday: 10am – 4pm
Please note the store will close at 6pm on Thursday 25 July to allow time to prepare for the away kit launch the following day.
From Monday 29 July, the store will move to new opening times.
Monday – Saturday â 9am â 6pm
Sunday â 10am â 4pm
Shirt printing will also be available online and in-store. Fans are reminded that all squad names and numbers are subject to change ahead of the 2024-25 season and the Club will be unable provide refunds or replacements if printing occurs before a change is made.
Content was captured at the Old Cinema Laundrette in Durham, with players Chris Rigg, Emily Scarr, Dennis Cirkin, Jessica Brown, and Jobe bringing the collection to life alongside Club legend Gary Bennett.
