Joey Barton takes issue with Steve Evans’ weight after coming across a photo of the Rotherham United manager sat down during pre-season.
A photo from six days ago was posted on the Millers’ Instagram, with Evans seen sitting down and walking about instructing players during their training camp up in Scotland.
This caught the attention of Joey Barton, who took a screenshot of the post and posted the following tweet: “How can you demand athletic outputs from professional men with a body like a bin liner full of milk?
“Should you be sacked as the leader of a sports team for being that out of shape? #beingfatisnotgood”
He also saw another photo of him in a sombrero hat and beach shorts back in 2015 when he turned up for an away game at Leeds during his last stint at Rotherham.
Barton added: “Is this Ai? This can’t be real? 😭😭😭”

This isn’t the first time that Joey Barton has spoke about Steve Evans’ weight. After what turned out to be Barton’s last game in charge of Bristol Rovers, he labelled Steve Evans a ‘fat man’ during his post-match reaction.
Interviewer: ‘A moment of vision from Chris Martin has got you a point tonight.’
Joey Barton: ‘Yeah, a great finish from Chris. I thought our performance warranted that in the second half… Tonight, we were disappointed that we didn’t get the foul for their first goal, disappointed that we didn’t get a penalty when the lads handballs it.
‘Obviously, the fat man’s going bananas at the referee which is normal for the end of a game. Every referee at this level knows they’re going to get the weeble wobbling across the pitch and berating them.
‘But again, I’ll have to watch it back. He’s complaining it’s a handball in the build up to our goal so maybe it has even the course there.’

Twitter users gave their thoughts as Joey Barton takes issue with Steve Evans’ weight after coming across a photo of the Rotherham manager …
@mightybuffalo74: What’s his body shape got to do with his management abilities?
@CryptoPokerr: Steve evans has 9 promotions in his managerial career, how many do you have Joey?
@ColBwfc: Good manager for the level though isn’t he, Joey…
@SaintsSocialite: He’s completed more than you in management
@BasedPensioner: Id rather him than a DEI hire.
@MUFCoystein: He’s apparently pretty good at his job.
@theliverbird89: Says the failed so-called unemployed manager
@andrew_mchale1: He’s a fine figure of a man and what a man he is #utm #rufc
@Kieran230289: As proven so many times throughout football being a good player doesn’t necessarily translate to being a good coach he isn’t being asked to play he is being asked to coach! weight has nothing to do with his job.
@thefootballpark: Ironically he has a much better CV than you. This out of shape manager has got blood out of a stone and achieved some great milestones. You can change your body but your can’t change an amoeba
@TonyAngelino7: Joey you are in good shape and failed multiple times at management and life, so cant judge a book by its cover.
@AdamSimmo73: Worked with Steve for 4 years, he’s a winner and he won’t care won’t anyone on here thinks. He’s living a great life, trust me.
@JG16_: Obviously gets more out of his players than you did as a manager mate.
@Emmetthirty: And still more successful as a manager than you were, weird huh 🤔
@QPRTravels: Yet he will always be a more successful manager then you. Anyway Joey now can a woman beater like you manage a team?
@avfc_stef: Lo and behold… Joey complaining about somebody having a job he couldn’t get… again
@deanb6666: Absolutely schools you as a manager 👍🏻
@Jackelope701: Surely the results a person produced the basis for judging a coach. Its not a beauty contest.
@58Bwfc: About 50x the gaffer joey is btw
@AndrewLeng1: Steve Evans has numerous promotions on his CV, and he will always be in demand as a manager. You were a very mediocre manager at best and sacked from your last job. I don’t see any club wanting to appoint you.
@hadersmck: His role and responsibilities don’t require him to be slim. The fact that you don’t realise this is probably a key indicator why he has 20 years of managerial experience and you’ve not managed a team since being sacked by Bristol Rovers last year.
@ldgmostdef: Scored more career goals than you did in his playing career and played mostly with Albion Rovers so on a par with your game/ability, lad. PS, he’s in his 60s.
@funksoulHulk: Not everyone stays fit as they age. The knowledge is more important surely
@GeorgeMadds: He’s got a better win percentage than you with nearly 1000 more games. Tell me why being in shape matters?
@mshore90: And how did your managerial career go?
@ChrisEdge81: I’m sure that Rotherham would prefer no promotio s with you and sacking you after 6 months than success with a proven manager. Very bitter Joey
@lufcmike_: And he’s still a better manager than you’ll ever be
@Beckett__86: Surely as a player you look at his cv and think I need to listen to him because he knows how to get teams promoted?
@george_brinkman: I would be sad if a man like got me sacked as well … Steve evans got you sacked from your last football job 😂😂😂😂😂🤝🤝
@9_Hendo: That bloke with a “body like a bin liner full of milk” has achieved far more than you’ll ever do in management matey
@derGammon: I don’t think sir Alex could do a dozen burpees in his final season! Should he have been sacked?
He’s a better manager than you’ll ever be. He also doesn’t sympathise with rapists and racists.
Big man’s here taking us back up to the champ, whilst you’re here paying that bike fairy thousands of pounds🤣👍🏻 pic.twitter.com/X9eQFSrfdG
